GeForce is forever updating their line. The 9000 series updates and becomes the GTS or the GTX and it's all just confusing to me in the long run. The GeForce GTX295 was uber-expensive after it came out, and from what I can tell, it doesn't really perform that much better than a GTS240 (which is 1/3 the price) in most applications. These new-age graphics cards (1 and 2mb) are requiring more and more hardware to run: cooling, power supplies, RAM, clock speed, etc. I think if you have an ATI HD 4890 then you have more than enough power for most things -- and it's $400 cheaper than the 5970! But in terms of the "best" graphics card in the world, I personally think the GeForce series is better than ATI, more reliable and ultimately better priced once they're both on the market for a year. Then again, I don't know a whole lot about the issue. I just think that the previous contributions by both ATI and the GeForce partners are more than sufficient to hardcore gamers and people looking for ultimate graphics processing power. At this point, it seems like they're just trying to milk their base for money by releasing the same card with a few improvements and charging double the price for it. If you're trying to get a new card, I'd hold off if you already have one released in the last three years. I don't see how much "better" it can get if you have a nice computer setup.

i agree with you. nvidia always be the fastest graphic card maker in the world. But ATI always make a cheaper one. I prefer ATI for best price/performance that NVIDIA that often rebranding their series.
