Hey friends,Last night, I was watching news, in it they are telling story about a lady 'Aruna', who has been in coma last 36 years. She is victim of assault and rape.
The petition on behalf of Aruna was filed by human rights activists led by Pinki Virani in Supreme court of India on the basis that keeping her alive by force feeding her violates her right to die with dignity. Supreme court accept her plea.
What the Supreme Court will have to decide whether the condition of Aruna has deteriorated over the years and offering care to keep her alive is no more a merciful deed.
There are some countries, mercy killing is legal. I think it should be legalized in our county also.
It is often overlooked that patients have the common law right to refuse any medical treatment. A doctor who treats a patient against his or her express wishes can be charged with assault. It would be wise to educate people as to their right to refuse treatment. There is no need to convert this well established legal principle into legislation.
What is your views on this issue?

Hi! Well i think if she had made her wishes know before she went into a come then the courts and her family should abide by them. But if she didn't then who are we to presume she wants to die or for that matter go on living? I for one am not for mercy killing, but that is just me. I don't think i could or would do it.
