i hate being asked "What would you like for Christmas?" its so much more fun having no idea what's coming. Sometimes you get something you would never have thought of asking for but, once you've got it you wonder what you ever did without it! The people who are closest to me have a good idea of what would be useful to me or what would amuse me so, I'll chance the surprise every time. That's how I got my glow-in-the-dark octopus; make your own Rupert Bear kaleidescope;foot massager; battery operated singing, dancing dog....

I kind of like a combination of the two, a few surprises and a few things I was going to get for myself, but somebody is willing to save me the trouble!

My problem is, if I start looking out for things I'd like, I want them NOW because I might have changed my mind by Christmas Day.

hehehe My pattern has been that, in order to get in the mood for Christmas shopping, I buy a few things for myself first. So there are often not things left over for other people to buy for me! :-)

Okay, I can honestly say I've not seen a glow in the dark octupus, lol. But why not? I prefer to be surprised. Every year we go through that too. What do you want for Christmas. The truth is, things that can't be bought, organization, a little help. I have stuff. Everywhere. You insist huh? Well, how about a gift card for groceries. Perhaps some paint and canvases. How about a certificate to eat and you join me. How about a hug?

That's it. I'm sure we all have so much stuff that we dont really have any use for . We have an agreement between us that, if we get something we dont need/want the giver will not be offended if we pass it on. The best gift is to be able to spend time with those we love.

I ask ppl what they want but not b/c that's what I'm getting them but to get ideas of what they might want. I always tell ppl that too. I like to just look around at stores until something just pops out at me and screams the persons name LOL ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STANDING STRONG IN MY BELIEFS**

I think that's a good way of shopping - just waiting for the gift to choose you!

Hi, Wizzywig. I feel the same way too. If I was surprised with the gift that I got for Christmas then I would be wondering what it is. But, if I am told what it is, then that will take all of the excitement away. I love being surprised. I would rather a person not ask me what I want for Christmas. Not surprising me, takes all of the fun out of the whole equation.

I just had a nice surprise in the "Secret Santa" at work. The person who picked out my name bought me a nice black bag with start on and some violet hair dye, both of which, I'm delighted with!!

Glow in the dark octopus??That sounds cute!!:) I like being surprised as well, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask some people sometimes. My daughter isn't picky but there are some places she is boycotting and there's so many I have to ask her where and why, so that's why I have to ask her what she wants;)

Yes, some people are difficult to buy for I know. Luckily, I am easily pleased and have no great gift demands
