If you could have witnessed ONE event in History up close and personally, would you? What event would you want to see? Why would you like to see it? [Again, on this one, I wont put my opinion until I get responses as I do not want to affect reponses] -Chelsea:)

What a great question, and there are so many things I would have loved to have witnessed. Since my thoughts are spiritually focused during this Christmas season, I would love to have visited the manger where Jesus lay or seen the angels appearing to the shepherds to tell them the good news. Karen

That would be an amazing one!! [now only if we can get it on camera, it would save the world a LOT of trouble with all the wars and such]

That is an interesting question. I always kind of wished I were alive in the 1700's, when the US was fighting Britan. So maybe I would have like to have seen the Declaration of Independence signed. That era of time always fascinates me but now we are so used to remotes and electronic things I probably couldn't have survived back then. I am sure I will think of something better that I would have liked to witness when I am lying in bed tonight. I wanted to read the other responses, but I pressed the wrong button. I can't wait to see what event you name.

It was in the same era, but I would have liked to see or be a part of the Boston Tea Party. I sometimes wonder if I had been alive then if I would have wanted the rebellion or if I would have been on the side of the English and not wanted change. I don't really like change now, of course when I was younger it didn't bother me, so I guess it would depend on what age I was when the rebellion was taking place.

It is hard to decide. It's something you have to think about. That's what makes it such a good discussion. Some of the topics are not thought provoking, but this one was. Congratulations again! When you think of an event, I hope you will let us know!

I think my event of choice would be the K/T extinction. That's not a punctual event, but if I could somehow witness it on fast-forward it would be great. I'd like to be there because there are too many unanswered questions on this event, and maybe I could see some of the facts leading to this great event in Earth's history.

hi chelsgrrl69 I would love to have been there at one of the concerts that Mozart gave at the peak of his composing to see him in person, and to hear him play his marvelous concertos, and sonatas, and even the symphonies, to watch'him and the audience, this would be such a thrill as I have been a huge fan of his classical music for many years now. Why because he was one of the best composers in the world' and he was a genius.also it would be nice to see that a lot of the crap written into that movie about him was mostly 'just that Crap. I have read a number of books about him, his'life, his mean father, and have read the letters'he sent back and forth to his parents, and he was not the idiot savant' that that stupid movie made him out to be. they should have delved a lot further into his real life and made a more realistic portrayal of him. that was very sad.

Hatley, I can see your frustration with Hollywood warping a story so badly that it is made to be true. [no matter what proof says otherwise]. But that would surely be a marvelous thing to be able to witness. I did not expect to get this kind of answer. [very interesting] Thanks a lot for sharing!

I'd have been in on Shakespeare's plays at the Globe Theatre. I've studied Shakespeare for two degrees, and I'd have loved to be in on the inception of the plays, and talked to him about where the inspiration came from. I might have even played one of the parts. To me, that would be out of this world.

I tend to think about this kind of things in terms of events that have occurred during my lifetime. That said, the one event above all the other ones that I remember occurring during my life that I would have liked to have seen first hand was the day that the Berlin Wall came down. The reason that I would like to see this is because I've heard so many things about it and I remember hearing about families that were reunited after all of the years that they were seperated between East Germany and West Germany. I feel like to have been able to have witnessed some of those people reuniting would have been a wonderful thing to have seen.

If I could have witnessed one event in History, it would be the life of Gauthama Siddhartha, or the Buddha. I am so enamored by his teachings, and his way of love and compassion. The ultimate detachment towards life he exhibited is really beautiful. I would love to go back in time and just see him live again and listen to his teachings. I feel a deep soul connection with him. It's lovely... I have already visited his birth place Lumbini in Nepal and also Kapilavastu where is Palace was, once upon a time.

Although pretty recent and I was alive and at the other part of the world, I think I would have liked to be personally there when the Berlin Wall was going down. I could still picture Reagan when he said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall". It must have been felt relieving for the German people as they were literally tearing up the wall down.

I would love to have witnessed firsthand any that had to do with the presidency of John F. Kennedy in the 1960's. I have always been fascinated by him as a person and politician. I have read countless books on his life and assassination. A few months ago, I had the opportunity to visit Arlington National Cemetery where we got to view the JFK gravesite and eternal flame. It was unreal the reverence that people showed while visiting the gravesite. I just stood there and thought about all the history surrounding that one person and his family.
