well, after no phone calls (which is unbelieveable to me-she's so sweet),we have decided to add her to the flock instead of adopting out.no one in the family wanted to give her up,so she has found a forever home.
she seems to have just a wee of trauma-she doesn't like to be left alone, hovers the food a bit.but hopefully, she'll recover from that once she gets confident.
small issues with dehydration still, but she is getting better, ointment for paw pads
also.not to mention farts from improved diet..
i don't think her previous owners ever played with her.she doesn't seem to know how.
a catnip ball inspired a little progress..she has no sense of "self" either.she freaked out at a mirror like little kittens do.bouncing and displaying.
we are slowly introducing her to the others-the tux kitty is a bit upset, but i think his problem is not this particular cat,but that this is the 3rd rescue in a month.
he will get over it tho,he always does.

I'm glad to hear that this new little lady has such a wonderful new home - how sad that she was so neglected at her previous place, probably why the idiots left her - she's better off with you guys, even if you have a number of cats, remember, I have more!

That was nice you to take in the sweet lil kitty. It'll take time for the kitty like you said to feel more comfy and get used to the routines in your household. & may I say 3rd rescue?!?!

I hear ya I love my kitties too! I just don't like the vet bills KWIM? I'd love to have a farm or something one day where I can have gobs of barn cats floating around. Probably why so many people have several of them because they are pretty independant!

Scarlet I am so glad that you are keeping the little one and she will eventually learn all those things because she has a loving Family that will teach her and love her
Lol I am sure that Tux Kitty will get over it when he notices it is just another little Friend for him and of course that he is still loved

oh yea,he will.
he was sitting on the bed today with the first two rescues of the month.(which is moving forward).
i think he was just feeling a little overwhelmed with the sudden 3 new at once practically.

uh oh, sounds like you have become the neighborhood "cat lady" like i used to be. everyone dropped their unwanted cats at our door. knowing we couldnt see them go hungry or without love.
eventually the other cats adjust also.@scarlet_woman (23463)

no doubt.i have somewhat of a reputation of working with "unworkable" cats.
there's another home up the street from me doing the same.they went from 5 to 8 this summer.

That's so sad. Our dog was actually a drop-off too. It just too bad that people don't take the time to find a home for their animals. I strongly believe in getting dogs and cats fixed. There are so many unwanted animals. I would rather adopt an animal than bring in an unwanted litter of creatures, whether cat or dog.

exactly.
i've actually shocked the shelter by adopting elderly cats purposely.
they're always "are you sure?"
yes,i'm sure.if he's only got a few years left, let 'em be good ones.
one i adopted was 14 already-but he made the extra effort of grabbing my arm as i went by through the cage,so he won a new home that day :)

I am glad you have decided to keep her. She needs to feel safe. It is a shame people do that.

I remember your first discussion on the little lost kiity.
God on you for taking her in. How many cats do you have now?
She probably has that syndrome where they are taken away from their mothers at too young an age, hence the not wanting to left alone & hoarding food.
Onec of cats, now 8 years, was a little like that. She would suck on my clothes or anything near me, for a year or so.
Your little kitty will outgrow her trauma, that I am sure of with owners like you.
What have you named her? Do you have a photo of her yet?

um..we have 6-though 1 is only being fostered til the owners find a new home.
i think she's afraid of being redumped, the poor kitty.one i rescued in the past was like that-he cried and cried when i was moving despite my assurances he was coming with.he finally stopped at age 13 worrying about it.
we are calling her bandit kitty, because she has "mask" markings.
i will probably have a photo up tomorrow.

I truly wish there were more people like you. If you could maybe post a tell all on how to be kind to animals. It seems that there are still some people who think that animals are not precious. Im not talking about people who dont prefer to keep animals. I am talking about the ones who think its okay to get a cat/dog or what have you and then when they get bigger, or the newness wears off they just open the door and out they go. Shame on them. It breaks my heart when I see those commercials for the aspca. How could anyone do something so mean as to harm an animal that only wanted to be loved? I am the same way. I am always rescuing something. I rescue fish, 2 parakeets, a few dogs, kittens and lastly a senegal parrot. I cant sleep if I know I couldve done something.God bless you and your kitties dl

i swear i am thinking of posting a "where to get help if you must give up your pet" on my blog.i can't believe some of these people.if they're not dumping them, they're leaving them in apartments, who knows when somebody will be in.
you leave a big tub of food for your average dog,he will eat the tub of food.
puke all over, and then be hungry til he's found.you just can't do that.
