It's hilarious to see that there aren't ever that many topics about god on mylot but when christmas comes around its like a ton of them just spread to every topic imaginable. It's kind of like the "believers" aren't truly believers until the holidays come around and then they want to share their love with everyone. I'm not trying to offend anyone but it all honesty its hilarious.

Xmas - Xmas is a season for joy and happiness
Christmas and God? You got to be joking!! Now don't get me wrong. I am quite spiritual but when it is Christmas time I think of only the form and not the substance. When I say substance it means God. For me Christmas means, shopping, keeping my house clean and tidy, making sweets, putting up my Christmas Tree, lights, new clothes, carols right from the first week of December and last but not the least organising a party for orphans. Sounds Christmasy - does it not? But where is God here??

There are people that relate Christmas to god, there is a religious purpose behind the holiday so therefore people think about religion and think about the spiritual side when Christmas comes around. Yes for a lot of people it is also commercialized with the stuff you talked about, trees, gifts, etc. but its not all there is to the holiday. You may not realize the religious aspect of it, but even me not being religious knows there is a part behind it and yes people bring that religious part out around the holidays. If not then why do churches bring out all the religious decorations and set ups around christmas time? Really think about it and you'll see its there.

I know there is a a lot of religious flavour during this time of the year but deep in ones heart there is more form than substance.

There are many discussions on here about God and religion, they are on a par with money making topics It is a shame though, as I want neither rammed down my neck everytime I come on here.

That is very true, if those interest categories were not there the other interests would be flooded with such discussions.

I agree with you. I wouldn't want either pushed down my throat either but if mylot didn't allow them then people would still post and would be more upset about it. It's now in the hands of other people to do what is right and to know that this isn't a place to preach to others if they don't want to be preached to.

hi I am glad we all give you so much joy, but why not lay off of this at least over the holidays for some of us who do believe all year not just for the holidays. I am so sick of hearing this'about us horrible believers. so laugh yourself silly if you' must but do not expect me to laugh with you. You did not just try to offend, you did offend.

I never said it was everyone that does it. I'm just saying that there are some people out there they only talk about their religious belief around the holidays but at that points its when you're really suppose to. And the thing is don't get mad at me for people able to come out and say how things are. Be mad at your so called believers that act this way if you don't want the bad publicity

You make a very good point here. It's a shame; I'll be the first to admit it, and it's unfortunate because it sets a bad example and makes people who are interested in exploring a faith turn away from that exploration. That's the last thing that a believer should do.

Hi I think you are right. But it is not only Christmas but otherf festivals too,For instance, in India Diwali is celebrated with the same fanfare but in the it all comes to decorating the house, decorating yourselves, exchanging presents and none theless worship the Goddess of Money,So that the following year they are blessed with more and more money, I think it is all commercialising the religion,

I can completely see how you are probably right and I'm not surprised by it. And commercializing religion is the best thing for stores to do, people feel like its ok to spend more when its related to a better thing.

God getting attention and recognition for any reason can't be a bad thing. Yes, it should be other times than just Christmas, or when we have problems. But even people who do recognize God all year round emphasize it more around Christmas. Just like a mother or father gets more attention on Mother's/Father's day. Anytime God and his Kingdom is recognized and worshiped is a good thing! And we can ALL do more to worship him more, I am sure. So I personally feel that instead of looking at what others are doing or not doing we should concentrate on what we are doing. Are we giving to God all that we should be giving? I know I am not, but am striving to do so.

Christmas is simply an expression of love, of giving, sharing and unity. LOVE is the overall expression of what is Christ means to us.

It's the "Holiday Catholic" syndrome....every other day of the year these people have a thousand things to do more important than going to church but they are the first ones in line for Midnight Mass. It's almost as if the religiousness of the holiday prompts them to reaffirm their faith. There's nothing wrong with it, it's a busy world and things like being with/providing for family are more important than listening to a sermon, but I totally agree. It's not just here on MyLot, either. You see this kind of behavior everywhere this time of the year. And the fanaticism with which some people approach the subject (Bumper stickers or window clings or marquee signs that proclaim "Put the Christ back in Christmas", for example) can reach rather humorous levels.

You're right, the most important person in our life is Jesus Christ, we must not remember Him during christmas time only, it must be everyday every minute and every seconds of our life. Without him, we are nothing now.

Yes you are very right. I too have thought of this. God becomes very popular during such times. Ofcourse I am too not offending any body. Please forgive us if any one gets offended.

I don't... how come God only becomes popular during Christmas, problems, etc.. God must and ought to be popular all yearlong -- just my opinion. Peace!
