How much water do you drink in a day?

We are supposed to drink 8 cups a day. I used to never be able to fill this quota because I was always too busy. I found a solution however by drinking out of giant jars, as they contain 3 cups of water. I don't have to keep going and filling it up. How many cups of water do you usually drink in a day?

Diet coke - my water - I should be drinking more water, than diet coke
If I had to drink 8 cups a day, then I think 7 of those would be diet coke. I drink it almost everytime. Even at breakfast, and just before going to sleep. I don't drink coffee, so this takes care of my caffeine fix. I should be drinking more water. Maybe that could be my resolution for next year. I might even follow your solution of having giant jars to have around. Thanks.

Personnaly, I don't think I drink a lot, only 3 to 5 cups a day. It's aslo depend of what I do like me, I play sports the summer, so I drink a lot. I should maybe drink much more than the other years.

I am terrible about drinking the proper amount of water in a day...they say you are suppose to get 8 8oz glasses of water a day but too me that is too much and makes me sick to my stomach if I take that much water in within one day. i normally get any where from 2 to 4 8oz glasses of water in in one day and probably about 6 in the summer time only because it is a lot more humid...

Do you have a health problem that accounts for this? It depends on how much toxins you intake in a day, since drinking water flushes toxins out of your body you probably will feel a little queasy. My suggestion for you, stop taking toxins in to your body and you'll be able to drink enough water. It shouldn't make you sick to drink water, since it is a universal solvent.

I think that i could never drink 8 cups of water,as i find that i do not like the plain taste of water and i am a person that likes to drink alot of coffee as well as if i am out i will drink coke. However i do know of a few friends that drink water and they have put lime with it to stop the plain taste as well.

Yes, I don't like the flatness of just plain water too. I like the fizz of coke a lot. I am also slowly warming up to the idea of drinking coffee, as the caffeine of the coke sometimes is not enough to keep me awake at those boring meetings at work.

Hey! It is your body and your choice. I am not your doctor or your mother, so I really can't lecture you on your drink choice. I just hope you realize that coca cola can be used to clean engines, also if you leave a copper penny in coke it will dissolve. Now think what that is doing to your body..

I use to be a faithful water drinker. I would drink about 4 bottles that was 20oz each everyday. Now I do good to get a bottle of water down me every two or three days. I know that I need to drink more water. Maybe I can start back on my water drinking tomorrow. Yep that will be the plan. Have a nice evening and keep smiling.

Good idea. I know it's hard to keep that habit up. I would suggest drinking it out of something glass not plastic, as plastic has carcinogens in it.

It's dependant for me,I drink much in summer, and little in winter. The result is that I always feel thirsty in winter,so dry.once I drink a glass of water before sleeping to keep my blood from too viscous, but I found that it causes edema in the morning,so I stopped it LOL.But I would choose to take more fruits to make sure that I have enough water.

I don't understand how people keep making these mistakes. Did no one take biology is school? In simple biology it even explains how important water is to flush the toxins out, fruits contain carbohydrates and sugar, not nearly enough water to count for your daily intake.

It depends if drinking water with stuff in it counts. I hate plain water. I can only drink it if it has a ton of ice in it. I buy those crystal light packs that you can dump into a bottle of water and it flavors it. I usually drink 2 or 3 bottles like that a day. Each bottle is 2 cups worth of water. So if you count drinking it with the packets in it then I average 4-6 cups.

I've been able to drink too much water in a day, sometimes I don't drink any while at other times I drink around 4-6 cups. I've never been able to drink 8 cups though, it always seemed like too much to me. Also, drinking so much water just makes me feel nauseous after a while, so I always only drink a little bit at a time, and overall that never amounts to 8 cups of water.

Well it is better then nothing. At least your making an effort. I am sure it is enough to flush most of the toxins out of your body.

Good for you for being able to drink the 8 cups of water a day. I am just not able to do it. I just don't like to drink that much. I would be going to the washroom non-stop. I guess I have a weak bladder. lol. I probably only drink like 5 cups of water a day. I do drink a lot in the Summer time when its really hot.

I also don't have that great of a bladder, I probably go to the bathroom like a million times at night. Have you tried drinking cranberry juice? It's really good for bladder problems.

it depends where u live in tropical areas and hot places u can drink 15 glasses of day if ur a normal working guy but if u live in colder places then its very hard to drink 8 glasses of water unless u do lozz of physical activities..in my place there is extreme conditions of climates so we drink lozz of watter in summers while very less in winters as of now days..

I also drink water for every half an hour. coz this chennai is very hot. I don't prefer fresh juice or ready juice. But i give juice to my son coz he likes to have. He also likes drink more water. Even at sleep also he asks water. He is only 2- 1/2 yrs, but he drinks water dirrectly from bottle itself without using cups. I or my family use only warm water not chilled water.

That is good your son is learning good nutrition at such an early age! Good job. I wish more parents would educate their children of this. Why don't you guys like cold water? Some people don't enjoy it because it's too hard on their teeth. Anyways maybe you should consider giving it to him in a glass bottle or cup instead as plastic bottles have carcinogens in them.

Hey guys, the science research says that we have to drink atleast 3-4 Ltrs of water per day, (this is also called as WATER THERAPHY) and you know what, the water works as a natural tonic in removing the toxics from our body. By drinking 3-4 Ltrs of water per day help you in curing PILES, CONSTIPATION........ SO DRINK MORE WATER AND STAY MORE HEALTHIER

I drink water as soon as I feel the slightest bit thirsty. Recent news stories and research has said that it's not exactly that you need 8 cups. Instead, health websites that I subscribe to have said that you should just drink enough so that you aren't thirsty/dehydrated. So the second i feel the slightest bit thirsty, I gulp down a glass of water. Also, I've really been looking into it and found out that anything with water in it does count as a glass of water. For example, I used to think coffee and soda didn't count. Although Health advocates want you to avoid coffee and soda, they do say that a soda counts towards your water intake. Even some foods count since they can be juicy or have water in them. So I no longer try to do the 8 cups a day. I found it was too difficult to drink 8 cups simply because I felt like I was forcing it down by cup 6! Now I drink water when i'm thirsty and feeling better than ever :)

That isn't true. I don't know where your getting your health advice from but it sounds very white bread to me. Water is different then drinking things that contain water as they filter out the impurities and toxins. If you are consuming something has toxins in it and water also it doesn't count because that's extra amounts of toxins you will have to try and flush out. I drink more then eight glasses of water a day and I am incredibly healthy. These health advice columns probably told you taking the H1N1 shot was good too right?

My intake of water is very poor. This habit has been right from childhood. 4 times in my life I had jaundice. I was even hospitalised once. However my intake of tea is very much more than water. I donot know, somehow I am addicted to tea.

Well jaundice is a condition of the liver. And the liver is used to filter out impurities. So it doesn't really come as a big surprise to me.

I try to drink as much water as possible.I too have a solution which i do everyday,so that i can take in lot of water.I usually fill water bottles and keep, and i often drink water. The trick is i feel when i drink water from a water bottle i can gulp in more water and also i do not feel discomfort which we usually feel while having water in large quantities even when not thirsty.
