I noticed that the christmas caroling have just started just few days back. Years back kids usually start their caroling as early as first day of december. i wonder they have just started just few days back. there are not much kids showing up at our gate. and when they do come up at our door to sing and if we don't get out of the house to give anything, they would shout , bark and do many things to get our noticed as if we don't hear them. but i do want to give them smoe things like some change, but in our community and in our city, like they don't bother to give to children. so giving one to kids do not seem cool at home. usually they just drive children away. what a christmas spirit isn't it.

When I was young, our church formed a group of carolers and I was always with them. We would go around the neighborhood, singing at each house. No one ever chased us away, though. We never got anything from anyone; we didn't expect to get anything. The whole idea was to sing Christmas carols and to have fun. I don't remember anyone ever not liking it. I think it's a shame that some people don't like carolers at their door. I can understand not being religious but the singing is so nice! But, there are more people disillusioned by Christmas and Christianity now than ever before. Maybe some of those who do not want the carolers at their doors have lost their job or are about to lose their car or home and the caroling brings sadness instead of happiness. I honestly wouldn't want to guess what is going on in their minds.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we don't get carolers here at our house. We live way out in the country, well back on a private road. No one ever comes here, not even trick or treaters on Halloween!

oh you didn't ask for anything when you when you show up at people's doors to sing. but here we are obligated to give money. that is expected that you will give some money when you do so. don't you think that is the tradition anywhere. even in your country. but it is nice that your church are just doing to celebrate christmas and not to get or receive money though there is nothing wrong if you do ask for good cause. anyways, we are not afraid of those carollers as long as we are not expected to give a big amount. some amount that we gave out of our hearts.

The funny thing about caroling here is they don't go to our house. You know why? Our dogs scare them off. We already miss children singing on front of our house :D

yeah that is true. it is also okay to have children sing at our home. but i hate when they keep coming back in just one night like they will pretend they have not been given any money yet and they will pretend they are other kids and sing again. ha ha. and sometimes the kids can be pretty rude when they were not satisfied with the money they get from us. SPecially from those people who are stingy and who will just give them something like a one peso.

NO, I don't see any x-mas carolling going on around my neighborhood. I guess because their parents don't see it as safe sending their kids outside and into stranger's home to sing songs. I only see carolling happening on t.v. shows or movies.

We have never had any christmas carrols come to our house before at least I dont remember since we usally go on vacation a lot during christmas time at least when I was a kid. Plus its way to cold to go carroling so I don't think anyone wants to go out in the freezing cold to go caroling at least what ive seen here.

that is nice that you always are in vacation during christmas time. we don't have much money to do that so we mostly stay at home during christmas. so it is quite boring. i don't like carollers that much. the children are just okay as they don't ask too much money but the big ones like teen agers sort expect you to give a handsome amount as they are not kids any more to be given small amount of money. but with children. they are quite happy with $0.25 already. ha ha. that is already big amount specially if there will be lots of kids showing up at your door or gate.

Oh,for God's sake! I really get annoyed when christmas carollers stands infront of our gate. I always get annoyed. I am tired of saying, "we have no christmas, sorry" its because i'm a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo and we don't celebrate christmas. next time, i would really put a banner outside saying: CAROLLING WILL BE 25:00 in the morning and december 32,2009...

Hi summer You years ago when I was younger we always looked forward in doing the christmas caroling in our town. We would go out and then when we done came back to the church for pizza pop and cocoa if you want. I haven't seen any christmas carolers this year or last year at all. I now live out in the country but at least you use to be able to go to town and see them somewhere. The towns have lost their christmas spirits and traditions.

Carols singing - Serenading with Christmas Carols is slowly fading away
We have a youth club that comes every year. They have yet to make an appearance.I feel nice when they come and I do fill up their coffers too! They bring their guitar and make an attemept to sing as nicely as they can. It is nice to encourage kids who spend time for this activity which is slowly getting into oblivion.

Christmas caroling started here in our place during the first week of December. There were many children and adults who knocked at our door and sang Christmas songs. I couldn't even count them anymore. Here in our country, we practice giving some things to those who are caroling even if we don't have much money to give to them. We believe that giving is better than receiving. We also believe that the more we give to other people, the more blessings we will receive in the future. We feel bad every time we reject Christmas carolers caroling at home. Maybe, it is already part of our culture and tradition.

Here at our place, almost since december 16,almost everynight kids would go caroling at our house. My mom would always give them money because she believes that the true meaning of christmas is through giving. I would always argue with her because she gives large sum of money.
