This is very exciting times for Adelaide. The two Pandas from China have arrived. They are a gift from China. Their names are Wang Wang and Funi. Our zoo built a million dollar enclosure for them. People had to start growing bamboo for them. They are so incredibly popular, that we had to book a month or so in advance to see them. My daughter and I will see them on january 14. I have seen pandas in China efore, but that was a verey long time ago. Here is a photo of the two pandas. Have you ever seen pandas?

Hi Jenny, I've never seen a panda in real life only on the televsion. How on earth though does it cost a million dollars to build them an enclosure? What are they going to be staying in , a luxury penthouse overlooking the ocean. There natural habitat is wild. I'm gobsmacked by the expenditure even if they do look sweet.

Australia has to be seen to have the best of everything!!(In being sarcastic). Especially our zoos and anything that attracts business and tourists. Apparently the pandas need a very specific environment to surive. Our climate is far from ideal, so the enclosure has to temperature controlled.

I have never seen Pandas. I don't even remember seeing them in the zoo. I know they were or are endangered maybe they don't have them in all the zoos. All the pictures I've seen of them look really cute and cuddly. I don't know much about them except they originated in China. They kind of remind me of Koala Bears, they both look so cute.

Hardly any zoos in the world have pandas. Koalas are not bears.

That's proably why I didn't see a panda at the zoo. They weren't there!! The name koala bears, leads you to think they are bears. What animal family do they belong to?

I am glad to hear that. I think the pandas are just from China only. It is nice to share them with other countries. They are the bridge of the friendship:) I hope these two pandas will love their new home:) I am from China, so I can see the pandas in the zoos here. I love China

It is a little shame that i didn't see a real panda though i am a chinese.I have to say you are so lucky. Not all the environment is fit for panda to live, so the city i lived has no panda. And the panda is very limit, only some big zoo have the good condition for panda,so if i want to see the real panda, i have to fly for several hours to another city . If i have time, i will go to Sichuan province to see panda, where is the hometown of panda.

I went and saw the pandas at Melbourne zoo back in 1988 when they visited. It was truely amazing and so exciting. I was only young and still have the panda Teddy I got that day.. It was such a big event I remember wainting in line as people slowly moved on passed to see them... Lucky you to go and see them. I hope they stay for a while.. I would love to take my kids to see them one day... They are so beautiful..

I have never seen a live Panada but would certainly love to see them. My grandmother raised me to have a love for Koala bears and Australian Opals as her brother immigrated to Australia so I have a whole clan of Australians in my family tree. They supplied me as a child with stuffed Koalas so these are the bears I would love to see.

Koalas are not bears. A lot people think they are, but they are not related at all. The other day when we were driving on a main roadm very busy, a koala was trying to cross it. Evey car shrieked to a halt. It made it across.

yes.i also learned it from the tv that the two pandas Wang Wang and Funi have arrived safe and sound.and i know it's the first pair of pandas that reside in the southern hemisphere, right? pandas are really cute and i am sure you are going to love them!!actually their names are cute, too.Funi is for "a girl with blessings" ,and Wang Wang is for "net" literally in chinese.bamboos are their favourite food, and this is not known by everyone.but this doesn't make them strange animals or not be loved. i believe the more you see them, the more you are going to like them... enjoy!!

Thats great telling us that Funi means "a girl with blessings", as I didnt know that. Many people in Adelaide have been growing bamboo to feed the pandas.

I have not seen pandas in real but only in tv and prints. The people of Adelaide are sure excited to meet new 'citizens' joining the zoo. I wish I can visit your country one day and visit your zoo.
