Why did my rent go up $1.00?

I was not given an increase with SSI this year. Because there was no cost of living increase. So why is my rent up a buck with section 8. Then up again with my rental building. I will find out how much in January. Thanks for all your help.

It's sad that our financial system is so out of whack. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, and every time they figure out a way to pay for something else, it comes back on the little guys. Why is it that you can't get an SSI raised, but someone like Tiger Woods can be paid $90 million a year for endorsements? Something is wrong with the whole picture, but our politicians can't seem to figure it out. Probably because they are among the overpaid!

Yes, my SSI didn't go up either due to what they say is the lack of the rise in the cost of living. But actually my SSI doesn't decide how much my rent is completely. I had to go in earlier this month (to the local Housing Authority) for a review of what my rent will be. I have to take in my proof of SSI, any proof of income, and all of my medical bills that I pay out of pocket. They look at that, and then decide how much of my rent I will have to pay. They don't do that with your Section 8? I actually think my rent will go up this year, but I hope I'm wrong.

My rent went up a dollar with section 8 already. I just received the letter. They should have given us some kind of increase. Even $3.00 I say thanks for the help.

That's just so weird. How the heck would they come to the conclusion that you owe a buck more with no new evidence of your financial situation changing? You know what is probably next? Our food stamps getting cut. Mine got cut by more than half about two months ago. I never got a straight answer, just that they had to make cuts.

I did have to call the office about mine as well. I get 87$ in stamps and I was sure it was a mistake they made. It's getting so hard just to buy food these days.
