This is probably a stupid question, but,,,

I see a lot of this and I'm not quite sure what it means. When people write, for instance, (em)Happy(/em) and lots of other words are put in place of happy, but, what does the em mean? I think its mostly people from the UK that write it but I'm not sure about that either. Can someone enlighten me?

As TLLD says, it is people trying to display emoticons - and obviously failing! MyLot uses square brackets, so you'd need to write: [ em]happy[ /em] (but without the spaces) to display:

Oh, thanks Mjay...I had no idea and have been trying to figure it out for the longest. I thought the em was them trying to clear their throat!!! I swear go God!! Anyway, thanks for enlightening me..Merry Christmas to you and yours.. (em)heppy(/em)!!!

Merry Christmas to you too! Or rather: happy pagan festival... I get frustrated when sites alternate between square brackets and angled brackets. It is confusing, if you're a bit short on brain cells (like me), and does tend to make hastily-typed responses look very amateurish on my part! Of course, it's just to do with the code employed...

Em stands for emotions. Some people use emotions when they talk. I use emotions when I send emails and that is how I know about these. I am not sure if everyone can use emotions or if you have to be at a certain level. I never use them on here.

Hi randy..I was unaware that if you wanted to use emotions that you couldn't just use them. I didn't know there was code involved,,I don't use them anyway so it really dosen't matter..I really dont like them..Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question,,I appreciate it..J

hi sulsisels lambie down below answered this already. the ems are not supposed to show when you hit a emoticon to put into your discussion. they are only there as place holders put by the admins and should disappear when one loads ones responses.it had nothing to do with us at all. lamb says this shows up only when someone loads it without permission I believe.
