What is the longest friendship you have had? Mine would be my friend Mandy..we have known each other since we were in the sixth grade and we are now 27. There was a year or two that we didn't have contact with one another because we moved away from our hometown but fortunately we were able to get back in contact shortly after I moved because we ended up working at the same job and we have remained in contact since then. I feel the most comfortable with her and she is the only person I share my personal life stories with. I am a very private person and don't like a ton of people to know much about what is going on in my life especially in the same town that I am from because even when you mind your own business someone has something to say about it but with Mandy I know that she won't tell anyone and she knows the same with me...it is nice to have that one person in life to share personals with, the only person who knows as much as she does is my husband he is my closest friend but I still have to have Mandy for when I have those aww i love him stories because it would be kinda weird sharing stories about my husband with my husband LOL....

Well... I recently got back in touch with my friend Bev from elementary school, so I've known her the longest. But the people I've known the longest that I'm close to are a group of friends I met in college the year I studied in Germany.

My longest friendship is that which I share with my friend Joleen. We met 29, well almost 30 years ago when she and her mother moved in a few doors down from us. We have stayed friends through all my moves and hers. there may be months sometimes we may not have spoken but we always pick up where we left off.. Now she is moving in with me for a while.. That makes 2 of my best friends under the same roof with me.. My other roommate and I have been friends (well and he is my ex boyfriend) for 22 years (This Christmas Eve!) Another friend who did live with me but moved out.. has also been my friend for over 22 years. There are others that are over a decade.. but these are the longest. I can share anything with these guys!

Wow that is great that you are able to have a few different friends for such a long amount of time. Most of the times after high school you loose track with close friends. My friend and I are the same way at times when life seems to take hold and we don't get the chance to talk for a little while but we both know that we will get in contact soon and we are just dealing with life things right then. It is great that you are always to live with your ex boyfriend still and have been friends for so long....thanks for your response minx

You are welcome.. It is interesting though- that even though I went to school with 2 of the 3 we never knew each other in school and did not meet until a few years out of high school.

I have a friend that we became friends when we were in the 8th grade. that would be 55 years ago. I don't see her that much & don't really talk to her that much but we both know if we needed one another the other would be there.

Wow, that is awesome. 55 years is a long friendship. I think it is sometime natural with lifes hectic ways to not have contact as often but it is still great that when it really counts you can still count on one another....thanks a bunch for your response antique

My longest friendships are with people I met in school and still see or talk to today...that would be over 50 years of friendship...a half century :) And to me, that says a lot about the endurance of a true friendship. They are ever so much more valuable than gold.

Oh peaceful...when I saw 50 years I about dropped I had to go look at your profile because in your picture you look nothing like a lady that has been around for over 50 years........but your age says you are so I will have to take your word on that LOL That is really great that you have been friends for that long, you are right it really does say a lot about true friendship. I hope that I can keep my friendship going that long and their must be so many memories that you all have and it is just awesome. Thanks for sharing peaceful

LOL, well thank you! That made my day. I think it has to be a genetic thing, as neither of my parents looked their ages either. But yes, that is me a little over a year ago, and yes, I'm 59 as of this past Sept.

The longest friendship that I have has been going on for the last 25 years of my life, in other words, the greatest majority of my life. That is my best friend, Erica. She and I have been friends since we were in preschool and we still maintain our friendships today. We've always shared a lot of things in common, from school to orchestra, Girl Scouts and church. Now that we are adults, the miles have come between us but still we are able to be friends. It is nice to have a friend whom I've known for so long and someone to whom shares the same chapter in life right now. We are both young mothers and it is great to have someone to talk to about the trials and tribulations of motherhood.

I agree that is the best part of having a good friend even when there are many miles seperating two people that they are still able to get in contact when it is really needed or when it really counts. There are times when my friend and I go a few weeks to even a month without talking but we always know that we are still there when we need to talk...life gets hectic at times LOL Thanks a bunch for your response dorann

I met my best friends at 4th grade in my elementary school. We five are classmates and are the same age but only I am girl. Back to that year, I transfered to the school at which they studied for relocated. Everything was new and strange to me.I studied hard but felt very lonely in heart. Two of them sat in my front and the other two sat behind me. They helped me in learning and took care of me. We studied and played together for two years. Fortunately, two of them and me entered the same junior high school. To date, we still call each other and have meal together. We all grew up and have own family. Especially in this year, two of them became father! I was so exciting when I got the big good news! Too many happy memories are in our hearts and I wish our friendship would last forever.

Woo, it is great that if our kids will be good friends! Maybe more than friends. In China, most of families only have one child in my generation for the family-planning(one-child policy) since 1979. So many young people like me have cousins but have no siblings. I really wish our children would be close like families.

In some case yes they do....friends pass, friends fight and friends lose contact. There is a girl that I was friends with since 3rd grade but unfortunately she was killed in a car accident freshman year but I believe that if she was still alive we would still be great friends...Thanks a bunch for your response nimlangcoy

My longest friendship is with my friend Julia, we have known each other since Kindergarten. We grew up living two houses a way from each other we'd always run over to each others house every day. We're still really close and talk every single day, though sadly we do not live close together anymore. We try to see each other at least a couple of times a year. When we do get together, watch out! We go nuts. Haha god, I miss her.

My longest friendship is 34 years. We met in kindergarten. She was hellion and I was the quiet kid. Though we are 1800 miles away we talk on the phone several times a week and when I make it back to our hometown we are together a lot. It's like we have never been apart.

Friendships in my life seem to ebb and flow. Right now I would have to say my friend Jill is my oldest friend. We met Freshman year of high school. So we've been friends for about 13 years, although there was about 2 years where we didn't talk. The exciting thing about the internet and friendships is that you can reconnect with people from your past.

I think good friendships are hard to find, everyone I am sure goes through friendships. If you were to sit back and think of all the friends you made and lost throughout the years the lists would be pages and pages long. I miss a few friends that I made and no longer have contact with but I think there are just as many that I am glad to be rid of LOL...If one is lucky enough to have one great true friend in their life they are fortunate I think....Thanks a bunch for your response earthpanther

The longest friendship I have ever had is 9 years as of now and still going. I met my best friend in a different state when I was 17 and now I am 29 and am married to my best friend. We have never lied to each other and never will. We keep no secrets and hang out togeather constanly. When there is a problem, we sit down and analyze it seperately, then togeather and come up with the best solution we can to resolve the problem. All of our friends are jealous of our relationship and can't understand how we wok. But people don't realize, we relly don't put any effort into making it work, because we were friends before we got married and already learned everything about each other.

Hello, that is great I am so glad to hear that you and your husband have such a great relationship. My husband and I are also very close and have always been able to talk everything through I think this is the most important thing about a relationship is communication and openness and because of this we never have to fight but I think it is because we are so much alike that it doesn't cause problems.... Thanks for your response ladymetal

Eleven years is a long time to have a friend..I wouldn't worry about having a bunch of long time friends because I think one true friend is all you ever need. Is this friend someone you can count one? If so then it doesn't matter how much time you have known one another that is just an extra bonus....thanks for your response jenintn

My best friend Helen and I became friends when we were both 11. We're now 57 and grandmothers, and she's still my best friend, and the only one I can talk to about anything. She's more like my sister than my friend, really, except there's no sibling rivalry. Now, I live in Spain while she's still in England. I thought we'd see less of one another, but we don't. When we lived in England, we were about 250 miles apart, but it takes less time and it's cheaper for her to fly to see us in Spain than it was for her to drive down to Cornwall to visit. This year, we've spent about 6 weeks of quality time together, and we speak on the phone at least once a week. Luckily, I get 1500 minutes of talk time to England in my phone contract - I use most of it calling Helen!

Hello Sandra...that is great that even while living in different areas the two of you are able to get together just as much. No sibling rivalry is the best part of friendship isn't it LOL you can tell them everything but your parents won't force you to share with them Hehehe.....46 years is a long friendship and here is to 46 more =) Thanks for your response
