It hasn't happened for long enough that it's been an issue. But I guess if it were night, we'd bring out the candles and tell stories or something.

I like it fine. There are always snacks on hand that can be eaten cold and candles for light. To me power out is a special time. I tape the refrigerator door shut to keep everyone out and just enjoy the peace and quite, thinking of the times before electricity had been invented and how many great paintings were painted and books written and inventions devised. On the other hand, hubby used to become absolutely irate over even the occasional loss of power. The loss of water is much worse, in my opinion.

I would really be upset if there is a failure in power as it would affect my daily activities. Since I have an inverter, I would not have any problem for 3 hours. But after that sure I would be angry. If there is no pwer, I may think of taking some rest as I never sit and relax when there is power. I keep myself busy..So I may try to take some rest during the power failure..but still I need a fan..Oh my God..

Here in our place, without any snow fall also lot of power cuts are there. Some are announced cuts and some are without announcement. I got fed up with this. In the nights I cannot sleep without fan. So I fixed inverter. So there is no problem if current goes. But it will stay for four hours, few operations like three lights, one fan one tv etc. But it is ok. Something is better than nothing.

depends on what time of day it is. if it's dark out, might as well sleep. if it's daytime,i could read, clean,do a craft..something to keep me occupied. our power goes out often for no reason,so i'm kind of used to it.

I was without power for 4 days in September of 2008. It wasn't bad, the weather wasn't hot, but I lost all the food in my freezer and fridge. Luckily, I didn't have much but I did have some yummy special ice cream that I'd only had 1 bite of! I'm prepared for things like that. I had canned food, enough for a month, and bottled water if I needed it. I have since gotten a little stove to cook on and some fuel for it, enough to last a month. Anyway, my mom was visiting and we read and played games in the daytime and used candles for awhile at night but went to bed shortly after dark in order to take full advantage of the daytime. I also had gotten some fans with rechargeable batteries and they really came in handy! There are lots of things to do when you have no power! Read, play games, get some mending done, write letters, send cards just to say hello, work in the yard, etc.
