Have you ever seen Snow Mold? I thought it was a myth that my Canadian friends like to tell us southerners, but....It's Real. In my cleaning frenzy that started Saturday afternoon, I discovered mold on my window sills, in the (condensation) frost! I keep a pretty tidy house, and my sills are wiped at least once a week, so I was pretty surprised. Have you ever seen or had to deal with this mold? Can you suggest anything that could deter the growth, besides ritual wiping & cleaning?

I have never heard of such a thing inside a house. Snow mold is a fungus on your lawn. On your window sills? That is strange. Bleach ought to wipe it out, but fungi are sometimes resistant to nearly everything. You could move to another house, I guess.

I have not had any experience with this type old mold..but i would assume that when you wipe down and clean the area, if you were to give a final ipe down with a bleach/water mix (if it would be safe to use on this area) that would deter the growth of it in the furture, as bleach usually keeps olther molds from forming.

never heard of it. i assume it is caused because of the moisture when the frost melts but i can't think of any way to deter it (unless you wish to use industrial strength fungicides, please don't...) apart from wiping it off.
