Don't worry! I know your mother.

Actually what they all said was "Cho Mon, don't worry as mi know your Mudder" Daughter called me a short while ago and said that she had had an awful morning. Not knowing she was to lose her job, I had arranged for my dining room to be re tiled. I would not have spent this money if I even thought that she would be jobless. Because of torrential rains, the tiler said that taxis were not running so daughter offers to pick him up. She drives the 15 miles and on the way back home her car starts to splutter - out of gas. Fortunately a gas station is nearby and she asks the attendant to fill up her car. She reaches for her bag and to her embarrassment she does not have her handbag or any other money. Panic sets in! The attendant says, " Don't worry yourself as I know your mother." Off she goes to the house to drop off the tilers and collect her debit card to go back and pay the attendant when she closed the car door. Car automatically locks and key is in car along with cell phone. So the key is now locked in her car together with her phone. (I do not have a land line). So she borrows a phone from the tiler and calls a locksmith - the only one in town. He unlocks the car and she explains that she does not have cash but he could accompany het to an ATM machine whereby she will get money and pay him. He looked at her and said. "Don't worry yourself, pretty lady, I know your mother" I am now laughing as she is narrating the story and then she delivers the punchline. I am sure to enter heaven she says. why, I asked. Well she says, when I reach and ask St. Peter to open the gate. He will look at me and open it saying, "Don't worry, my child. I know your mother". We both cracked uo! Do you laugh at adversity in your family?

Excellent Cynthiann. Out here I'm more likely to hear 'don't worry, we know your son. Without a word of warning the local ATM was removed at some point in the last few weeks and I only noticed it today when I was cashless after paying the car tax. I now have 3 euros in my wallet and no petrol in the car. I know very well that the garage will put my ten euros worth in to get me to town so I can get some cash up there and that I'll be the only one embarrassed by the exchange.

That is not good - the 2 hour trip to get cash. But - it could help to make you frugal if you aren't - but it sounds as if you are. IDK. I'm leaving work now so have a wonderful christmas

Phew, I didn't need to ask for credit. Someone called wanting to buy marmalade so I had enough money to get to the Greeks and told him he'd need to fill my car up so I could get back down to town the next day to go to the bank. Unfortunately though the cash point removal is permanent leaving a 2 hour round trip now for cash.

It's really good that people trust another enough to let them come back to bring what's owed. Sounds like your daughter had a bad day, and on top of the rain! wow! Funny Punch Line. Now of course I've been recognized by people because of others in my family, lol... but no one's said "I trust you, I know your mama"... lol. That's like saying "If you dont' come back and pay me, I'll tell your mama!"

No I didn't look at the alert but did see something about it from another mylotter. I never earn much of here anyway and have only made payment once but it has added up to over 100 and I am just letting it stay there. Please don';t worry about me - as long as I can keep my job we will manage. My third son is coming out on the 26th and he wll help the family. We help each other when one of us is in need. We will be fine. Many blessings sweet friend

hahahahaha At least it wasn't, "boy are you in trouble, I know your mother." I guess that's what a small town is like...

Bless her heart, what a day rachel had. I loved her answer about st. peter. U may as well laugh about adversity , it's better than crying for sure. All those people telling her that they knew u certainly says alot for u, my friend.

Oh, thank you for sharing that story of daily woe. I am sitting here laughing as I can remember similer stories. The girl has it right. She is sure to go to heaven as he will know her mother! I too am sure to go to heaven as he knows my mother and thank goodness for her she has taught me so many things. One being sometimes laughter is better than any medicine or money in the world. With all the issues your family is currently under - I pray that the new year will bring renewed joy. Yes, I laugh at family adversity - everyday - why because its the best thing to do when nothing else will work.

I agree with you. Laughing just makes you feel better. It will not solve the problem - but you do feel better.

Wow. That was a real good one. I've many such experiances with my family members. Actually the real excitement comes when we share such experiances with our family members. These incidents provide us that much laughter that none else can give. These incidents provide us more and more choseness with our family. Sure Haste is whaste. Could've done the actions patiently. But the outcome of these incidents used to be real pleasent.

that is funny but how lucky you have to be so respected where you live. That is truly something to be proud of. Here nobody knows anybody else in montreal. Although my son can get credit from a little store if he has not money goes in and gets what he wants and tells the guy I will pay you and friday and the store owner is okay with that.

oh gosh cynthiann wish that would happen to me, what I usually got before I came here is, dont I know you, your face so so familiar and I had to say, you go to the library a lot, so you see me shelving books there, I am patsie Hatley. but even being known by face only I have had the waitress at Spires pay for my dinner when I apparentlywalked out without paying. then when I came in again she asked me if I would repay her, of course, she showed me the ticket it said the library lady. I try to laugh at adversity too but sometimes I fail Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and yours.

Your dipiction of the Jamaican life style always have me in stitches. You should maybe linkup with Oliver samuels, Glen Campbell (Titus) and Patrick Brown or even Basil Dawkins. All those folks who work in Jamaican threatre and keep bringing our way of living to life onstage. "Cho Mon, don't worry as mi know your Mudder" ha ha ha ha

Hello cynthiann, that is such a great story and I got a real good smile from it. As for laughing at the adversity of your family I think it is such a good thing to do only because in my opinion that means that you are close enough with one another that you can get a good laugh from the others funny habits. I am glad that everything worked out for your daughter and thanks for sharing your story =)

I'm glad that it made you smile. I just checked your profile and saw that you are from the U.K. I left there so many years ago and have lived here for 39 years. Now that I have admitted to being old what does =d mean?
