any graphic designers out there that can offer advcie?

i am so frustrated, i have recently tried to upload photos to my discussions and the photos are all small. i want them to be bigger! I dont have adobe or any art software on my computer, i do have microsoft and a limited paint program that probably comes with all computers. any way i tried to save my photos in microsoft word as a pdf thinking it would upload on mylot add a photo but it dose not. so i have to copy and paste everything from mircosoft to that crappy paint program and i save it as a jpeg and when i upload a photo on mylot it ALWAYS comes out small! can any one offer any suggestions? thanks greatly for any advice !!!!!!!!
