How long time do you think is needed to teach a foreigner English language? I have a small English class that I am teaching English, They all are beginners and I was just wondering how much time will they need to start to speak some simple sentences and using tenses.

i guess it depends on the person, and how much practice they can have at speaking english. the english language, like all the languages have different ways of saying something. i've been told about a really good book called "the word spy" it's apparently really good for explaining how and why we end up say things the way we do.

Thank you for sharing your opinion! I think to learn a language in general is not a very easy task :) Thank you for suggestion that book. Maybe you know if it is possible to download it somewhere for free or just read for free like in an online library? Thanks again!!!

Hi! Well' I think it depends on that, in which country you will learn it. If you learn it in some country where English is not the official language, then I think you will need not less than 3-4 years, to learn it well, but if you learn it in England for example I think you will need not more than half or one and half year!

Thank you for your response. It is tough in non-speaking English country, then I guess it will take some years. But I hope the basic things I will teach them faster so they can say at least what is their name and ask how much does it cost! :) Then it would be a good start! Thanks again for your opinion!
