Belief, but in what or whom?

We all believe in something, and most of us in many things. In what or whom do you most believe? God? Yourself? Fate? Myself, I believe in God as creator and guide and that is where I go daily in prayer. I believe there is still more good than bad in people and in life. I believe in love! Your turn :)) Karen

I do believe in God. But I don't believe much in religious stuff. Other than God I so much believe in my husband. He is the best husband, best decision maker, best in everything he does, and I believe in him for everything in our life.

Hi Sweetlady. I don't think one has to believe in religious things to believe strongly and firmly in God. There are so many things in some religions that from my own experience are not really in keeping with God. Some use it even to harm or kill others. And how beautiful to believe in one's spouse :)) Take care and thank you for responding. Karen

I believe there is a Higher Power out there for me. I pray to him each morning and evening. I was raised a Catholic and got it jammed down my throat. SO now I call myself a Recovering Catholic not anything else. Hee hee! HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hello Grandpa Bob, and happy holidays to you, as well :) I think we should not cram anything down anyone's throat! I am happy to hear, though, that you do believe in your higher power. And that you pray. For me, there has always been great comfort and great power in prayer. Karen

I am a believer, a Muslim. I am following the guidance of our creator - Almighty God. God had been revealing messages since the beginning of mankind through several prophets. The final edition of guidance is received through the final prophet Prophet Mohammad, Which is the user manual for human beings prepared by the creator of human beings. And the name of the manual is called 'Quran'. One only need to realize that Quran is the words of God, whoever learn Quran by reading from cover to cover, he can realize that it is not a human work done by an illiterate man 1400 year ago. May Almighty God guide us all to the right path. peace.

Hello Harley Our beliefs are similar, and our faith in God, sustaining. I am glad you have that. Thank you for sharing some about the Muslim faith. I have not read the Quran, but I have read the Bible, cover to cover. Someday, maybe the Quran, too. Peace to you, as well, Karen

Hello Hatley :) I hope you're well! I am glad you, too, have not lost faith...not in God or the basic decency in life and people as opposed to all the well publicized wickedness that goes on. And love and prayer...very powerful, both. I also wish you a very blessed Christmas and a happy New Year. :)) Hugs, Karen

Hi Karen! ^_^ I'm so glad you opened this discussion. It's good to know others who have the same beliefs as you do. I also believe in God, the Creator of all things. I also believe that He is the Author of our lives and everything around us. But I also believe He gave us free will. So i believe that our lives has already been predesigned way before we were born yet we have the free will to change it. God always has the best plans for us yet we tend to live our lives our way. So it's very important to live our lives His way since He designed it. I believe that God created us so that He can pour His unconditional love to us, for indeed, He IS Love. :) I also believe that faith is something very important. and we need this in order to please God. Faith is believing in things that are not tangible as if they were. :) so keep the faith Karen and continue with your daily prayer. ^_^ I pray for the best for you! Be blessed!

Hello again. I hope you are enjoying mylot :) Yes, like you, I also believe God gave all of mankind free will, and he will not go against that, nor treat as his pawns. This is why it saddens me when people "blame" God for the bad that goes on in the world. They forget about our free will! Oh, and yes, faith. I have no clue how some of us would get through the horrible difficulties without that and prayer. God is love :) And this is what we should pass on to others! Thank you for the response, and God bless you. karen

By the way, I forgot to mention, I also believe that there's more good in men than there is bad :) for we were designed in God's image, however due to sin and the lies of the enemy, we tend to be selfish which brings evil things. Our judgment is clouded by the enemy's lies. But if we live a life according to God's standards, we will not fall for the lies of the enemies. :) I guess that would be all for now :)

Karen I think this is a wonderful topic. I think one should be free to express their religious beliefs. I believe that we would have less religious intolerance if we discussed these sort of things more. For myself, I have gone through many different beliefs. I was raised as Christian Word of Faith/Pentecostal. But when in my late teens I studied more and I became a Messianic Christian. Then I began to really study religion a lot, the Bible, the Koran, secular and religious history. After years of that I stopped believing in Jesus and left the Messianic's and am now Jewish in my beliefs. The Hebrew Bible (what Christians call the Old Testament) is what I consider scripture. In short, I believe in the God of the Hebrew Bible (Yehovah aka Jehovah) who I believe is the creator of all things, and that He is incorporeal and should not be depicted. I do believe in the after-life and also in angels. Some of the greatest commandments the creator gave was to love Him with all of our heart & soul, to love our neighbor as ourself, to love the stranger, to help those in need: the poor, orphans, widows, the sick, and even to help those who hate us when they are hurt or in need of help. So yes I also believe in love. :) My ultimate goal spiritually is to be at peace with God, at peace with myself, and with all people. If anyone wants to talk or know more about the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity or Islam) feel free to send me a message. Cheers, InfoSurge

Hi Info. There is something great to be said for freedom of expression, yes? Most faiths, whatever they call themselves or God, are not as far apart as it might seem at first glance. I, too, equate God with love, and I surely appreciate your commenting in depth on this subject. Karen

No need to apologize :)) I agree that there is so much good in the world, and a lot of that can be attributed to "religion." And as you said, others twist those same good beliefs to gain followings, brainwash them, and convince them they need to do horrid things, all in the name a particular religion. It's a very deep and multi-faceted topic. Karen

Yes, most of the faiths of this age share the common aspects of love, mercy and forgiveness, which I am very grateful for. I personally think the world today is as good as it is because of these common aspects. A lot of ancient religions would do horrible things like human sacrifice, blood letting, torture and other sick things in worship to their god's. Unfortunately the belief in God can be used against good innocent people to brain wash them and make them do evil things. If they believe in God and that they should do whatever God tells them to do and they do not already have a solid foundation of what God would want or not want done, then there can be big problems. We see this in many cults and also in the current Islamic terrorism. There are some really good Muslim people, and the Koran(Qur'an)has some good morals in it even though I think it has some downfalls to it, overall it is a good religious book. One thing I don't think the USA has realized about American-Muslims is that according to the Koran (their book of Gods Word) if they kill a fellow Muslim, they will go to hell for that. This makes it very hard for a American-Muslim to participate in the military to fight against other Muslims, even if they are terrorists. Sorry about the long reply here. I don't know how I got on all of that. I just can't help myself when it comes to religious topics. :D InfoSurge

Hi Ronny Just as God exists, yes, so does evil and satan, so there is always a tug of war between the good and the bad. I do believe that good will ultimately win that war. Honesty...yes, honesty is good :) Karen

i think that i only believe myself,i find that i met many difficultis and failure, nobody can really help me to get rid of it.so i often think about ways to deal with it.sometimes i could not deal with it,i would select to avoid to it,but whatever i do,the only way i should deal with it depending myself and learn to face all of thing and learn to be strong in spirit.so i think that believing myself can overcome all of difficulties.

I first and foremost believe in God. That belief has been instilled in my throughout my life and I've experienced things that I come to believe as miracles throughout my life. I also belief that the nature of people is good for the most part though there are some people who are misguided and do things that shouldn't be done. I believe that everything that happens to us in our lives happens for a reason.

I believe in all of the above, but the reason I believe in myself and fate is because of my belief in God (Jehovah not Allah). I study the bible and has read it several times in its entirety. I have also read the Koran, the teachings of Buhdda, Confucius and many of the great theorist like Fraud , Darwin and the acient Mayans. Yet, I still believe in the intelligent design principle simply because it makes more since to me than anything else.

Hello to you. Even when you don't believe in God, yes, one believes in something...and for you, that is believing that you make or break your own life, your own destiny, and your own way by the choices you make or do not make. I personally do believe in God, but I believe he does not interfere with our freedom to choose, for that would only make us games pieces on a board and God would not want that. Thank you for sharing your views. :) Karen

I believe in a supreme power, though i do not like religion. Why? because religion brings turmoil, war, and separates people by creating factions that discriminate those who do not believe/join them. Yes, private institutions like the church has brought many many benefits specially to the poor and the needy but they did a lot of, i mean a LOT of things which violated mankind (the burnings, the excommunication, the crusades and a lot more.) ok religious rant ended. what else do i believe in? I believe in the power of the human mind. I do not believe in destiny, i believe in CHOICE. I believe that acts are greater than words and i believe that there is no such thing as impossible.

Hi Naj "Religion" seems to be a catch-all term made up by man, not God. And too many us their religion as an excuse to do evil. I believe in God and spirituality, but no longer embrace what I call organized religion. Too many have made that a bad thing, in my opinion. The Bible refers to the people as the church. Thank you for sharing your views...and yes, God has given us freedom of choice and does not interfere with how we use it...for good or evil. Karen

I believe in God, and by believing God, it reminds me that there is nothing as powerful as the power of God and that power is nothing but infinite love, and it's unconditional. But always bowing in front of the Supreme Absolute, it reminds me that I must reduce my ego, I must lower my head, and make myself more and more humble, because I am nothing compared to the supreme love which is all powerful and encompassing..... It's important to bow to this Creator who created me, so my ego and arrogance and pride never takes control over me.

Hello Cobradene. I admire that you do not allow ego, arrogance, or pride to take hold of and lead you. They lead to such troubles. To be humble, some see as a weakness, when in reality it is a quality that only adds to our strength and more fully connects our spirit to that of God. Thank you so much for expressing your beliefs here. Karen

I believe in the energy of life and in the fact that it constantly changes. I believe in the attraction of like to like and that as long as I put out positive energy I will receive it. I believe that our entire world is but one of many where the life force is manifesting to encounter the experiences in this particular world. I believe that each of us has the power to influence this experience. And that we each choose according to our needs.

Hi Pat. I like your beliefs listed here, and in many ways, I feel they are very compatible with my own. I believe, too, that what we emit, we also attract to us, and that life is very much an energy form, just as we are. I believe that energy is what allows us to influence the grand scheme of things, whether we know it or not, and that such energy can be focussed or condensed to make it more powerful. And yes, there is definitely more to the whole of things than the world (our world) as many perceive it. Thank you. Karen

I have been looking at some of this type of thing for the new year to come because im wanting to be more emotionally and physically healthy. I think over the years ive lost some of the sense of who i really am. I do believe in god. I do believe things happen for a reason. But it seems like theres more missing to the picture, such as a real life energy that helps in directing our paths. Good thought provoking topic.

Hello Good. It sounds like you might be searching for your purpose here on earth, or seeking to better connect more fully with the spiritual aspect of it. You are most likely stronger than you imagine, and when you truly connect your own spirit and God's I do believe you'll find those things you seek, or the missing pieces :) I wish you well in all of that. Karen
