Did you hear... no more Word for Microsoft

Am I truly surprise that Microsoft violated a patent in order to get word working? Of course not, things like this probably happen a ton in the computer world and it does take awhile to really notice they hey someone is stealing your stuff. But since Microsoft won't be able to sell Word in January how do you think that will affect places like Best Buy and other main electronic stores that sell computers as well. Is there going to be a decrease in sells and is it bad it's happening in this economy? Or do you think most people have a copy of word to begin with and they'll be fine? I know I'm going to be buying my word update for my Mac before that date comes upon because who knows how long its going to take Microsoft to revamp their program. And the worse part is when they do revamp the program it might not be compatible with pass word programs - but it makes other people buy a new product! http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/158160

Micro$oft is not the first company to steal anothers' work. Just check out Sony with the whole Blu-Ray technology. www.qj.net/qjnet/gadgets/target-technology-company-sonys-blu-ray-infringed-our-patent.html www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/15288.cfm Plus the whole allegations that were thrown out of court whereas Apple claimed Micro$ft stole their OS. http://lowendmac.com/orchard/06/apple-vs-microsoft.html Tsk tsk to the whole lot of them. Why are they paying lawyers if the lawyers are not doing the patent & copyright research properly?

I just don't even think they're worried about searching for patents because they believe smaller companies aren't going to go after them or they think they're the bigger company and if they have more money they'll be able to beat out anyone in court. But yes it happens a ton. And its all silly.

They should be worried. At one point the USA government was looking at breaking them up. Although it was dropped, this really shook up Micro$oft. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/us-government-uturn-spells-defeat-for-microsoft-breakup-668481.html. Plus the U.S. Department of Justice and 20 states' landmark antitrust case against Micro$oft managed to put Micro$oft in check...for a few years. They are getting bold again though.

I didn't hear about this but I say oh well. I was never a fan of shelling out over $100 for a program to type in. So needless to say I'm not upset, but I won't be spiteful. I'll just continue to use other means for typed up documents.
