How ebay manage its database?

Today, I log into ebay to look for a couple of second - hand items. I look at all of the items available at Ebay, and there were members constantly update their on sale products on ebay. All of sudden, I was curious, how ebay manage its database? It must have huge amount of storage in its server, and a flawless database management software to manage all the data. Does anyone familiar with these stuff?
