Intriguing Question

A recent episode of CSI: NEW YORK made me think of this scenario, and I hope everyone enjoys playing along with it as well. Please feel free to add as much detail as possible!
Say you were to build your own home. The home could be any square foot, and any number of floors. It can have as many rooms as you want... my challenge to everyone is to think of a floor plan with hidden passages, and even booby traps. How many would you put it in the home of each? Would it suffice? Why or why not? What would the booby traps be, or where would the secret passages lead?
Feel free to draw out floor plans and scan them, uploading them to mylot... Or you could just use a paint program and upload.
I am not sure that i'd have any booby traps but I would have a few secret passageways, one going from the closet of the mine and my husband's bedroom to a basement hidden game room! lol!

Good question there. I watched one episodes from CSI too, but can't remember if it's New York or Miami.. and there was this secret passageway for this particular family too, but they did not include the maid, and she got killed. That was sad...and she was pregnant or something. If I were to have my own home, I would have 2 secret passageways. And it would be in times of emergency. But I wouldn't want to make those rooms like dark and dingy like secret alleys and particular scary. I wouldn't want to do that.. LOL.

LOL..I like your answer there. I'm good at imagining things like that too; especially when it comes to well-decorated rooms aplenty. And on top of that, some nice books on the shelf, together with a nice, rocking chair or just a sofa comfy chair..and no windows like you said to ward off the sounds of storms and lightning sights. Yup2x.. sounds like a panic room to me too, which reminds me of the movie The Panic Room.. LOL.. that was good movie. You have a good one..

I don't remember the episode your talking about but haven't watched all the episodes! lol! Well that is a great idea, somewhat like a panic room but fully furnished so it'd be more like an emergency room to go hide in if robbers were to try to rob you? Or a central room so that you could be comfortable but stay away from windows etc from a storm?
yes dreary and dingy rooms would just prove to depress me, especially if I'd need to stay in said room for a few days. All provisions would be prepared before hand and already awaiting. Maybe some Ramen noodles and a small burner to prepare the ramen on? I am not a fan of ramen noodles but if need be...
Lol sorry for going on and on!

Like purplealabaster up there, I wouldn't have any booby traps too. Necause I have kids too. But I would have at least one room upstairs that would have a passage way that goes directly outside. Maybe a stairwell that leads to the backyard. So just in case there is some danger downstairs, then an escape can be made without going through the main floor.

Oh, I like your idea of having a secret passage leading from the second floor directly outside. I was going to make mine go to the basement first, but I think that one leading directly outside would be good in addition to the one going directly to the basement. Hmmm, it sounds like my house is going to have more secret passages than actual rooms if I keep going. I guess I better go make more money, so that I can afford such a huge house.

A castle? *hits self in the forehead* Why didn't I think think of that? I would love a castle, and that would be a perfect place for all the secret passages and hidden rooms! Oh, that is a wonderful idea!

That is a fun question to think about. I don't think that I would have any booby traps, either, especially since we have children. I would be afraid that they might find them and get hurt, because even if we told them not to go there they have natural curiosity. Even the best parents can't watch their children 24/7, and I would always worry that they might get up in the middle of the night to explore, even though (or maybe just because) we told them not to, and then they would end up hurting themselves and we would not know until morning.
I would have at least one secret passage from each floor to the next, and probably one directly from the second floor to the basement, which would probably be hidden in one of the children's rooms. I would also have one passage that lead from our room to the children's room(s). I would have a secret passage that lead out of the basement, too, but it would not come out near the house, so we could escape without being detected if we needed to - not that anything like that would ever happen, but it is good to be prepared just in case.
