Libraries in my area: goofy hours. Yours too?

Yes, public libraries are government-run and therefore subjected to having goofy, sometimes inconvenient hours..But still! My rant right now is that the ones in my area are open on FRIDAYS but closed on MONDAYS (as well as sundays). I don't understand this. They switched it up a few years ago: they USED to be open on mondays but not fridays, but now it's the opposite way around and I just don't GET it. Monday has always been a "cram" day for me, as it is the beginning of the new week, and I always seem to have the most homework and reading assignments assigned on mondays. Therefore being able to go the library on mondays would be AWESOME for me, because that's the day where I try to really really study (which is sometimes impossible in the chaos that is my home. LOL.) Alternately, fridays don't really seem like a "library" day, do they? It's the beginning of the weekend, and I'm sure most people (especially college students) are going out partying rather than hitting the books. Am I wrong in this thinking? What kind of crazy library hours does YOUR libraries subject you to?

Wow. I'm so sorry. I would die if there were no libraries or bookstores around.

That's weird that you libraruy's not open on mondays. My local library had a weird schedule for a while, too. They kept changing what time they opened and closed; for a while it was 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays, no its 10 AM to 9 PM monday to thursday. They're closed on Sundays during the summer, but open of Sundays during the winter. It's confusing. w

Our library is also closed on Sunday and Monday. It is so annoying. I don't really understand why they have to close any weekday. (Can't they just get more staff??) I used to always forget the Monday closing and walk there while my daughter was at preschool, only to find it all closed up. I agree that Friday would be a more sensible day to close if they had to choose any day. That way at least they wouldn't be closed two days in a row like they are now.

Well reading a good book is my idea of a fun weekend, so Friday seems like a great day to go to the library. But then again, I'm weird, and not at all like most college students. My district has multiple libraries that all take the same library card, but they don't have the same hours, which always struck me as weird. I think the main library that I visit is closed on Sundays, and stays open from 10:00 am to 6:00pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and goes from 10:00am to 9:00pm for the rest of the weekdays. Another close library in the same district closes around 4:00pm on one of the weekdays. Like I said, it always struck me as weird.
