Do you prefer reading the novel or watching the movied based on the novel? I know the novel gives more description that a movie sometimes can not embody, yet I prefer watching a movie because it's more visualized and energy-saving. How about you?

I prefer to read the novel and then I can see the story just as how the author wished me to. When I read the novel and next I watch the movie I can see lots of alterations. I think that directors should keep the movie the same as the novel. I liked reading Alex Garland's novel The beach. However the movie changed much of the story. The director wanted to make it more romantic and change some of the events.

i agree with u maxi bc i have a vivid imagination and i like to visualize exactly what the author(s) wanted us to see...when i was a teenager i loved Lurleen Mcdaniels novels and i believe tht if there ever were movies created they could never match exactly what Lurleen wanted us to see, feel or even realize

I like both actually. Each is a creative interpretation of either the author or the director of a particular story or incident and I find both equally interesting. Also, many a times the movie is in a language which I don’t understand and reading sub-titles is not really my idea of appreciating a good movie…in such cases, if the book has been read, then I understand the situation better.

I am a very lazy person and so raeding is quite a tough job for me so I prefer watching rather than reading the novels. Actually my work becomes easier and only my eyes work while watching movies but while reading your eyes as well as brain should work.

I like both methods! I admit, with a book the experience tends to last a lot longer and I probably favour the book more than the movie. It's nice to see the movie though and then pick up the book as you compare how the two are closely related. I think after having watched the movie though this helps to form good pictures of scenes in your mind when you get around to reading the book. Merry Christmas. Andrew

Hi Magic 9 =) yes i agree with you. Sometimes reading books can make feel bored and tired and not much fun than watching movie. It Easier to understand and be done with Friends.I can only read the books if the atmosphere is quite and not noisy because i feel uncomfortable when reading with a bustling atmosphere.=) That's what i feel.

If I have already read a novel, and then get to know a movie is made on it, I would surely watch it for curiosity sake how it's been made. There are very few movies which have been made really well, on novels. First when I saw Bridges of Madison County, I didn't realize it was made on a book. But I loved the movie so much, I mentioned it to everybody, and they all said the book was much better. Then later, I read The Da vinci Code, and didn't like the movie at all. Also I didn't like "The Runaway Jury". The book was far better. I would rather read a book, than watch a movie. I may watch the movie only for curiosity sake, but I prefer reading a book first, and the book is always original, and contains the thoughts and creativity of the author, which the director may not be able to perceive and he is bound to depict the story according to his own interpretation and make some changes. Most of them do that. So, I would always prefer reading a book first.

Actually, I don't read novel, except it's very famous and very good, otherwise I will give up after several pages reading. I didn't read much novel so I don't know what it's a novel like comparing to a film. I like watching film because I don't have to image. I can see actors and actresses action. Happy everyday!

I prefer watching movies than reading a novel. I've read many novels before but for me it is less time consuming when watching movies especially now I have busy schedules. Watching movies makes it visible to the viewers eye and the facing of every seen is more advanced. The feeling of exciting is more distinctive. The instant lesson from the story is also easy to conclude while reading novel will take a longer time. Some people prefer reading novel because it is their enjoyment especially when are more of reading than watching. It is by preferences, but since now, even at night there are many more things to cope up for the next day. Watching movies is more preferred. You can budget your time for enjoyment at the same time not missing some of your work jobs and families to enjoy too and relate the said movie viewed for entertainment. Unlike in novel, only one person can read it unless finished then can be lend to others.

I feel compelled to read the novel first before I watch the movie based on the novel. Because the movies tend to leave out vital details. Case in point, Harry Potter. If I had not read the books first, I might have been lost. Of course, I might not have noticed anything was wrong but still, the novels give a wider picture. The movies are less detailed oriented in for many adaptations in my opinion and more to get an entertaining film on screen.

I prefer watching movie based on the novel. Because it's very easy to know the history of a novel through the movie. Beside i also like to read novel specially.

I prefer both and if i have enough vacant time I prefer to read everything that i am interested on whether it is novel, magazines, books or traveler guide as long as the subject of interest invites my attention. While, watching movies is like a sort of entertainment to me to be shared with my family watching together our favorite movies. But, most of the time i rather surf the internet rather than watching movies except when I have the latest movie download from torrents.

well i cant leave the greed of doing two..lol...i mean to say i want to read the novel after it has released but at the same time i want to see a fresh movie whether they are based on novel.. because i think if you know the story of any movie before watching it, then you will loose your excitement at the timne of watching the movie for the first time...because you already know what will happen in the movie..then your mind will try to compare will the actual story of the novel and the movie based on it..you will try to criticize it instead of enjoying the movie..even you dont try to do it,your mind will do it

I prefer to watch movie than reading novels. Reading novels can take a long time to be done. Movies that have subtitles are better for me.

I prefer to read novels but I won't object to seeing the movie. I actually like to compare the movie version to the novel. Sometimes the film will be horrible or not anything like the novel. Sometimes it'll be too close to the novel and actually hurt the movie. Once in while you find one that is just right.
