Annual Christmas Cleaning.

Happy Eve of Christmas Eve all. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there like me. There are many of us that do our annual spring cleaning. But how many of you out there do an annual Christmas/Winter cleaning? I have 4 kids and so my house is always a mess. I clean it while they are at school and an hour after they get home --- aarrggghh. But I don't have company very often, so I like to have family come to my home at Christmas. Currently I am the only one with children so rather then yank my kids from their new gifts, I have family come here. So I have to do major over haul of cleaning. But I also take this time to go through the toy boxes and throw away the broken toys and to put the less used toys in a box. Sometimes they go to good will and sometimes I put them in the closet and take them back out a few months later. I also go through EVERYONE's clothes, movies, and any other misc. stuff sitting around taking up precious space that I do not have. Things get dusted, floors get scrubbed, beds get washed, and everything gets rearranged. I probably put more stress on my self then I have to but it is just what I do. Any one else out there like that? What do you do for this time a year?

I do something similar to this in addition to other cleaning rituals. Every fall I clean out my clothes, give away clothes that I don't wear or throw away stained clothes. Every winter I clean out my storage spaces (desk, closet, basement) and try to sell junk on eBay. If it doesn't sell I give it away and if no one wants it, I toss it. Spring I clean out clothes again and summer is junk again. It's a fairly good habit I've gotten into over the years.

I almost always end up giving things to good will. But recently I had learned about this web site called freecycle.org It's a site that you can post the things you want to give aways and people who might need them can contact you to pick them up. Also if there something you need you can post that and someone may have it to give. The website was created to keep things out of landfills. I have seen things from desks, toys, clothes, tv's & frig's. It's a great little website.

Thanks for the lead, I'll have to check it out. I do like to give my fair share back to someone who needs it. It's better than having it sitting in a landfill, especially with all of the non-biodegradeable objects we've managed to come up with.

well, we don't celebrate X-mas yet we have similar cleaning occasion--- the spring festival. we clean the dust away to imply a farewell to the dirty past and star brand new.

That is very awesome. I am pagan and I have similar rituals that I do through out there year. It is always great to be out with the old and in with the new.
