What Is A RSS Feed?

Hi friends, I have come across this term "RSS FEED" in many websites. when i was creating a blog there was an option called "RSS FEED". I donno what does it mean? If you have any idea .. can u please explain what is RSS FEED in laymen terms . Thank you in advance
