I am 40 years old and my boyfriend wants a child. He is 40 as well and I find it's ok for him. For me I feel I will be too old pushing around a stroller. Let alone going to day care as a mother that old. How old is too old for you personally to have a child?

I think it is great that a woman who has never had a baby is finally having one, 42 years of age or not. Motherhood is such a special thing and she will have a new and great joy in her life. She may have some complications with the pregnancy because of her age though. Some of them include a higher rate for birth defects (approx. 1-100 babies born to mothers over 40 have down syndrome), the chance for a miscarriage goes up to 25% after age 35, diabetes and high blood pressure are also some factors that pregnant women over 35 may face. These are all things that should be brought up with her doctor and she should be monitored more frequently than a younger woman would be. Even with all the risks involved having a baby after 35 has a lot of pluses. Women who are mature often have more stable lifestyles, i.e. a better job, a home, a husband. The baby will have more security because of these things. Also a woman who has waited so long to be a mother must have a lot of patience and will pass that along in the care for her child. Be happy for if yall goin to be a new mom!!!!!!

50 is too old to have a child, I think having a child at 40 is just fine. My mother was 38 when she had me, of course I was a surprise. She thought she was done having kids! Anyways, there are a lot of mothers around age 40 that are pushing strollers, nobody thinks its weird. The questions is, do you want to have a child? Maybe you could look into adopting a child or being a foster parent. The only warning I have is that the risk of downs syndrome and spina bifida is higher at your age, but the medical technology we have today is so advanced that you would find out right away and have time to prepare yourselves.

I don"t see anything wrong with having a child at 40. My husband also wants another child and I am 35. I am not ready right now as my daughter is only two and I have a lot to handle already but, in a few years I might be in the same boat as yourself! like the other person said, 50 is probably to old for a child. You aren't old and you will be just fine pushing that stroller around!

Forty definitely isn't too old. I have plenty of friends who have given birth when they were 40 or in their early 40's, and I don't see any difference (in parenting or fitness levels) between them and those of us who are in our 30's. I think it depends on whether you really want to be a mum and if you think you can handle it, rather then on your age. Some 40 year olds are very fit and active and some are not, just like some 20 year olds (or any other age group!) I think that once you're nearing 50 then that's probably too old - but then there are some very fit 50 year-olds around as well, lol!

Getting first pregnancy too late in life is risky. If you have some kids earlier, then it will not be a problem at all to have another one at your age.But I can understand your difficulty to mother a child at an old age.You may not have the strength as young mothers too.But still you will have the patience which young people lack. So,go ahead if it is not your first one.Else, consult a gynacologist.

I think 40 is not good for getting babies, still you can. But I suggest no. coz you cannot take care of your children. So for this reason, I consider this age as old. I support 25-35 as the right time. But still it depends on your wish and your health. What i've said is in general.
