Does it bother you when....

....people start the first sentence of their discussions in the subject box??? To me it shows a certain lack of creativity or possibly laziness or maybe both I mean the subject box is where you put the "headline" of your discussion, the bait, your one chance to draw in the curious......The WOW factor. I usually like to have a little fun with my subject line, a play on words, or a double meaning line that makes you think I'm going to talk about something else, or other such silliness. If I didn't use the example I used in this discussion, (which also made you a little curious didn't it?...........DIDN'T IT?!?), I would have titled this discussion something like: Incomplete Thought Processes Manifested Through The Half Cocked Misfiring Of The Neurons Within The Cerebral Cortex Causing The Inability To Assemble Thoughts Beyond The Realms Of The Boundaries Of The Proverbial Box..........or something catchy and easy to read like that. So, anyways..........Does it? Do you do it?

Some of us are just not as clever as others, Bear. Did ya ever think of that one? I mean, really, just because we aren't clever enough to come up with a good subject line doesn't mean we don't have anything to say! I am SO insulted I can't even answer this discussion. My feelings are hurt and I am just down right angry that you think you are soooooo much better than those of us who are NOT wordsmiths. I never took you to be such a ...........see? I am just so......... I don't have words to finish my response. Good day to you, Bear! I hope you and your superior attitude will be happy together!

Okay sometimes I'm guilty of doing that but I thought it was a good way to draw people into my discussion. I promise I won't do it again, I'll be a good kitty

Well after giving it further consideration, I have come to the realization that it actually is a good draw......after all, people are going to want to see what the rest of the sentence says. MEOW!

Nothing bothers me and I only did it once and that was a long time ago and it wasn't as effective as when I stated something quite startling that could have seemed to be completed unconnected to what came next but it wasn't. Merry Christmas Sconi and I love your cute avatar!

Sconibear I certainly hope I do not as I do not remember doing that,I do try to find something to catch people's attention and sometimes I do do it too.Wow that was a paragraph and a half in one sentence. lol Oh does it,yes I think it does as I 'know I do not want to do that myself. And I do not think I do that either as that would not make much sense. You did draw me in and I was glad to come in too.

Does it bother you when people complain about something in their discussion and they're doing the exact same thing? Not if they're bears....

I really don't mind myself. It would be nice if they put the whole sentence up there but it's not necessary.

It does not bother me at all because I am very much guilty of doing this myself. Most of the time I just can not thing of anything to say other than to ask the question I want to ask. Many times I don't need to elaborate I like asking straight forward questions, that are simple for everyone to answer. I don't have a lot of time to beat around the bush here.

Hi, sconibear. No, I have never seen this before at myLot. And I have never done this either, myself. I will always create a question to my discussion. I am even surprised, that myLot allows us to post without a headline or title. It would be nice to see the title though. I don't know why someone may do this. Not unless they can't think of an question for their discussion. That is my only guess..

LOL this is a great discussion ,you sure have a way with words and if you had started the discussion like you did ,I am sure it would have gotten many responses or at least many looks.I dont have a problem with people who do because I have done it many times and I like the way you did the same thing with this discussion

No, it doesn't bother me, but I don't ever really do it. I do when I write emails. Sometimes the subject of my email is "Hey, did you" and then the message would be "steal my lighter last night? I can't find it..." But, on here, I try to give people a clear idea of what my discussion is about. I don't want people to not know what my discussion is about.

Was it a blue lighter? A blue Bic lighter? A Blue Bic lighter with half the label scratched off? A blue Bic lighter with half the label scratched off and a small chip in the bottom? Cuz if it was........I HAVEN'T SEEN IT!

Hi sconibear: I agree with you, the subject box is the place where you need to look for a catchy sentence that would attract people to your discussion and not to start what you are going to talk about. I think people do this just to make you know what's exactly what are they are going to talk and that's another way to attract people. By the way, i don't think you need to chose silly titles, at least I don't enter to this kind of discussions. Thanks for asking us this question. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ Happy holidays. Take care. -Alvaro.

I prefer to know what people are talking about, rather then trying to guess what they are trying to say, so I would have to say yeah, it bothers me. I always start of my discussions about thing, with what I am talking about. I figure everybodies interests are different, so why not.

It doesn't particularly bother me. I mean, they could be a little more creative like you said and put something in there that may capture the attention of the reader. But i wouldn't actually go so far as to call it annoying or bothersome. Happy holidays!
