yes, usually the problems of the computer is solved by me only. And so my computer is always open, actually the CPU is always being opened as my cpu fan is not working. If for small problems I will call the mechanic then it will cost me much in every few months. that would be quite costly for me so why not to do the repairing on our own.

no i have not.i am not that interested in seeing the inside of computers and also i don't know how to operate the inside of the computer. But i have seen a computer mechanic opening and operating a computer when we installed a new modem. it looks really complicated but they did it really fast and easily.

When I used a desktop, I opened it to clean it now and then. The first time I ever opened one I was afraid I'd ruin it, though! Now I use a laptop and have never opened it. Guess I should, though.

Hello, Gomer Magtibay here, computer technician from the Philippines. Opening your desktop personal computer is okay. But for laptops, leave the job to a qualified technician. Don't do it yourself.

Certainly, I have opened the computer case on many occasions. I have fitted a new audio card, chanfed the graphics card and floppy drive, removed the 56k modem and fitted a couple of SATA drives. Changing or adding hardware is quite easy with a modern computer and can both improve the system and extend it's useful life.

Yes, I have opened it for purposes of cleaning. Not to often, maybe once very three months. Using the compressed air to remove the dust helps the computer run smoother and faster. Plus in the Summer time, I do it slightly more, to keep the fan running so the computer does not lock up from overheating. I have not really looked at it other than to clean it, however.

I built my first computer from components, so yes, but not any more. Now they are a lot less expensive and more powerful and very user friendly compared to the first computers.

hi codris^^;; this is a reminder for me i had opened my desktop computer for several times and did the cleaning and changing and upgrading some parts. but since i bought my new laptop and didn't use my desktop, i forgot to open and fix what's need to be done. i plan to change the memory and clean it so i can give it to my younger sister to use since it's just sitting on my living room but had been so busy these days i always forgot about it..

yes, I have. I have opened it about 5-6 times. The first one was when I bought a new CD burner, the second when I bought a DVD burner and several times to clean it!

I can't forget my first experience when i opened my desktop computer. Though i was using it for more than 3 years, i did have interest to open it. But one day, when i switched it ON, it started with beep sound continuously. Screen is full blank. I tried pressing soo many keys, but in vain. Then i decided to open it's case. But after opening it, just get shock because of the dust formed inside. It was a problem with RAM. After this incidence, i am cleaning my desktop once in a month without fail.
