Surely I'm not the only one that is glad Christmas is over. Why?? Well let's see. Christmas has totally been commercialized. We start hearing about Christmas well before Halloween and by now, I have heard enough. I'm tired of the "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holidays" I'm glad it's over and now we can work on the new year. Anybody else think the same way and why?

Partly yes, partly no. I enjoy coming over to my parent's house and seeing family and friends, but I really miss my cat, my bathroom (I'm in a wheelchair and my parent's house is not as accessible as my house.) I also miss mass transit. Nowhere around here has bus route.

Thanks for your response! Yes, being with family is fantastic along with friends you normally you don't see during the year. But after awhile, even family can get on your nerves. I can really see your point being in a wheelchair and not having it as accessible as your place is. Home is always where the heart is and for my case, my five dogs too. Happy MyLotting! Char

yes and no. i find the shopping and all the preparations totally exhausting plus i am with you. all the commercialism is horrible! (i saw an ebay commercial that pointed out that it was NOT the thought that counted and encouraged you to spend more money!!!) but i do like seeing my kids faces when they open their presents. that for me is priceless!!

Hi Cher, Thanks for your response! I agree that the shopping and all the preparations can wear a person out. I can still remember growing up watching my mom prepare the big dinner with all the extras. It would put such a strain on her. Even towards the end of her life, we ended up going to a restaurant for dinner since it was just too hard on her. I have always said that Christ and children is what Christmas should be about. There is nothing truer than that. Happy MyLotting! Char

I don't even make a great deal out of christmas anymore, so I do not care really. I don't go out just stay home and have a christmas dinner for myself and my son. My grandson came over to play video games and that was it.

Thanks for your response! That's kind of the way it it here at my house. I'm by myself now so I only give Christmas money to my son. It is very low key. I guess it's okay if you have a big family, but I really don't care about it much anymore. I'm ready for spring! Happy MyLotting! Char

I love Christmas. But the past couple of years have been tough. Last year because we (4 kids, hubby and myself) were living with my MIL who turned out to be a very selfish abusive woman. This year was tough because I was trying very hard to make up for last year, not just in the presents but also in having a better feeling, happier and merrier. I think we did okay but it was rather stressful for me. I live in Japan and Christmas day is not a holiday, I still have a hard time with that. But I am glad that it is over with. I'm looking forward to the new year, I have a lot I want to do.

I'm not tired of it, I'm glad its over though. I just hope the holiday spirit can live on but out of sight out of mind and most people will consider tomorrow another day in a string of others. I'm ready for the New Year too. I'm sure by June next year it will be Christmas time again.

Hi my friend, Yes you are right. It's a shame that the good holiday spirit can't live on through the rest of the months. I'm glad the hustle and bustle and all the spending is over for the year. I'm sure it will be back around soon enough. Thanks for your response! Happy MyLotting! Char

Hey Char! Yup! I'm definitely with you on this one! I have had enough with all the holiday greetings, but you do know they haven't stopped yet! It will be weeks before the "Happy New Year" greetings will continue! They go one even longer then any others! For the people that you don't run into for about three weeks after you will still keep hearing those words! You can bet on that! And by the way, Happy New Year my dear friend! And those are sincere words coming from me!

Hi Opal! Thanks for your response! Glad to hear I got one person on my side!! I don't mind the New Year greetings quite so much because I think you are just wishing people health and happiness in the new year to come. Instead of all the buy, buy, buy and what did you get me? Christmas stuff. And I am kinda excited about the new year getting here since it will be my first time of being on my own. I am trying to keep open minded on that one. Well like you to me, I wish you a truly happy and prosperous new year for you!Happy New Year my friend! Happy MyLotting! Char
