I have a new slogan above my picture on my profile page. Please check it out. This is the song we sang as our benediction at the end of The Messiah concert this year. It's a beautiful song titled "Old Irish Blessing". We also sang this in the Glee Club when I was in high school.

HI Kathy; I love that piece; Always have;
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. The sunshine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

cyrus123 oh I have that copied someplace on my computer. Its an Old Irish Blessing. oddly my maiden name is Clark and in tracing back my Clark ancestors they all came from an Anweiler which is gaelic for Andrew Clark in Derry Ireland, he would have been my fourth great grandfather.anyway while I was doing all this family tree stuff I stumbled on to that Old Irish blessing and liked it so much I copied it into a file. I would have loved to have heard it sung to the music though. I love the Messiah too, and I sang the Messiah in our high school choir, then in College too. In college we did the whole thing and was it long. But we were well received and we had practiced it for months too. I just found the words for an old Song called the HOly City, starts out Last night when I was dreaming, I dreamed a dream so fair, I stood in old Jerusalem beside the city square. this had been plaguing
me for the longest time because I could not remember the name or all the words.

I don't think I've ever heard this song "The Holy City". It sounds very beautiful, though. I would like to hear it with the music. I wonder if it's in any of our hymnbooks. I will have to check it out sometime. We sang "The Old Irish Blessing" accapella. Everything else was sung accompanied by the orchestra. So, you have done a genealogy on your family. Those are always very interesting. I plan to do a genealogy on mine one of these days. They take a lot of time. That's why I haven't done one yet and I have so many other things that keep me so busy. I maydo this sometime in the new year. Kathy.
