Being a Roman Catholic, not practicing but still one. Im pretty confused on religion. its a Vast topic that can go on forever. I believe in the Son of God JS.As well as God himself. Faith is Important but I question whether or not when we die were going to go to Heaven or Hell. I know that everyone sins and nobodys perfect but If God truely does love all his children then would there really be a need for Hell? And Also with Being Gay do you believe that its a sin going back to God loving everyone. Just being you and believing in what you believe should be enough but with all this contaversy out there your bound to question it even if you do stand by your choice. What do you guys think?

Greetings rebornhunter25, Religion can confuse anyone :-)! When I was a teen I got a Gospel tract in the mail titled, "Religion is a Drag," and with the Scriptures it presented it made a clear cut distinction in my mind there was a difference between religion and have a very personal relationship with God. And since religion(s) is/are confusing I find it quite a relief to just go by what the Holy Bible says. There is a hell and there is heaven, albeit the best term for the last one is Eternal Life. Aye, God is a God of love, and in fact 1 John points out that God is love (agape love--the highest form of love). Yet, as we read the Holy Bible we find that the predominate moral attribute of God is holy. He is holy. No sin shall be in His glorified presence. From the beginning a primary warning from God is that the soul that sins shall die (eternal damnation). However, God being a loving God, but also just, provided the Way (John 14:6) for man to be cleansed. As the Son, He was veiled in flesh, lived the life we should live to please the Father and was without sin, willingly took our sin upon Himself, and was punished for our sin. He also to our sin nature (please see 2 Cor. 5:21 on these matters). We are then given a choice. Per John 3 we are all condemned alreay but we see that God does not want us condemned. We have to make the choice to be dedicated completely to Christ (not any religion) asking the Father to forgive and cleanse us, and asking Christ inside of us (please see John 15). Both the love and holiness of God is seen in the cross of Christ, which can be summed up with the word, "mercy." In regard to being homosexual, homosexuals are just like all of us--sinners. Our sin nature develops sin. We can look at sin as a symptom of our sin natue. So whether it's homosexuality or lying or stealing, it is a sin. God loves the sinner, but in order to receive the precious forgiveness of God one must be truly sorry for all sins, repent (turn away from their sin), asking God to forgive and cleanse, and asking Christ to rule as Lord in their life (Please see Romans 10:9-10). I hope this helps!

Well, in regard to not trusting a book that has been manipulated, there are plenty bad Bibles out there. That's why it is good to get a translation closest to the original languages. I use the New King James. But in many other Bibles, the essential truth we need to be saved with is essentially not changed from the original languages. If you want, you can check out what Neil Lightfoot says in "How the Bible Came to Us." It's real exciting--well, at least I thinks so. :-) From your response I think I now see what you meant in your original post. Someone who truly has Christ in side will definitely repent and turn away from their sin. Christ is actually inside of them. So he who was a thief is a thief no longer, nor does he steal. This fact goes for all other sins, including homosexuality. Would Christ steal? Would Christ practice homosexuality? Would He lie? So if one is really truly born-again, they do not willfully continue in sin (I John) and for those that are really in Christ Jesus, there is no condemnation (Romans 8). Now, yes, even true Christians sin, but there is that ongoing repentance (turning away from that sin) that a true Christian does. There is an effort on their part to actually stop sinning. But to continue willfully in sin is an indicator that a person is not a true Christian (Romans, 1 John). Anyone can say they are a born-again Christian, but that does not make them one. But Christ said we shall know them by their fruits. Per John 15 Christ has to be inside of us at all times, and we in Him at all times. That's a wonderful life! God bless, Pete

well I would have to disagree, I believe Christ is Inside me even though I continue to Sin over and over again. I cant go and repent every time I sin because Id have no social life because Id always be repenting. It is truely hard to maintian faith in belief in something thats so radical as religion. I still believe in JS and God but I also believe that were were made in his Image and therefore even though we continue to sin as long as we have accepted him into our hearts we shall not be destroyed. I cant judge others for what they believe in just because its not the same as my own beliefs but I do not agree on others pushing it on us. Like that story on the WestBoro Church saying all Gays are going to go and burn in the fires of hell. Its just wrong and stupid of them. Everyone was born differently and raised differently. In time we form our own beliefs and follow them to what we think is right, but its all pretty much the same concept. Churchs push there beliefs onto others and force them into a certian way of thinking. Like I know of many churches that do it where I live, and Its wrong. I dont agree nor support that. I believe God loves us no matter who we are or what we have done. As long as we continue living our life and not doing anything drastic we should go to Heaven, Hell I cant see being a place that exists because again God loves all his children so there wouldent be a need for hell and Im sure Heaven is big enough to accommodate everyone. I just wish there was more common ground then what were force feed on a soon. I think Ill always prolly be confused because you cant justify something that you hear nor read because it always turns out to be blown way bigger outta proportion. I do highly appericate your comments in this matter because it is always good to have a better Insight.

If you are not practicing, you are not a Roman Catholic. It is useless to categorize by upbringing or tradition the only classification that counts is if you are actively practicing.

you dont have to be practicing to be a roman catholic. being catholic is part of who you are religiously. I may not practice it but I still consider myself to be one.

I'm not into religion...I'm spiritual. And I have a very close relationship with Jesus. Religion binds, kills and destroys! Jesus is the TRUTH, the WAY and the LIFE! If you're confused with religion, then it's not for you. You are seeking for the TRUTH.. the TRUTH that will set you free! If you believe in Jesus..and accept Him as your saviour, you are saved! He has saved us already by the CROSS! and God knows that we will never become perfect thats why He sent Jesus to save us who believe. Titus 3:5 He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. he saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit." If you are still confuse. I want to share some stuffs with you that had changed my life radically. DONT WORRY. ITS FREE! drop me a msg in my email d i n x c a r i n @ g m a i l . c o m . Have a great day! - "Do not let your hearts be troubled. trust in God; trust also in me." - John 14:1

You're right. God loves His children so He wants them to do the RIGHT things. He has a set of rules to be followed because He does not want us to go astray. No offense but only believing in yourself and doing everything that pleases you seem to me like you are making yourself your own God. Yes we are humans and we make mistakes that is why God has a set of rules to follow so that we will live like Him..people should aim (close to)perfection. He made us "like/similar to" Him so we should do as He say and be like Him (aim for perfection as much as possible). I am Roman Catholic myself and I know God will only accept me to heaven if I remain His follower. The existence of heaven and hell is a proof of how just our God is.

It seems to me that you only believe the kind of God that you think you want Him to be. My question to you then is how have you arrived with those ideas of who He is? You said you believe in Jesus, then why not read the Bible and get to know the God the Father that Jesus has revealed to us. Unfortunately there are a lot of deceptive ideas that has gone out through the ages that has corrupted the teachings that Jesus Christ has taught what true Christianity is. If there is no basis for your belief then how can you be sure of your faith since it seems its only based on what you want to believe. I don't intend to argue with you. Just some thoughts I'd like to throw out to you.

You are pretty close to the truth of it! Of course there is no hell, or devil either. This was just a gimmick thought up by the church, to scare their Parishioners into giving more money. And of course God doesn't give a damn if your gay or not. Why would He? You were created in his likeness and image! How wrong can that be? All of this stuff is just common sense, but those still caught up in the religious theology are not able to think for themselves.

use heart and conviction to believe in a religion, don't use mind power brain because the brain can be influenced by the temptation of Satan. Use your heart and conviction, because the devil can't tempt people through the heart and confidence self

Hello rebornhunter. i am a roman catholic too myself.. you are right when you say that religion is very vast. In fact, as i would reply to you, i would expect someone to rebattle my contention. Yes. there is a heaven and hell, and since i am a catholic, i also believe that there is purgatory wherein souls are purged into little flames to purify themselves as penance for the sins that they have committed on earth. I also believe that God is just, so i think then that there really is hideous damnation hell. Well.. as for being g*y, God doesnt care if you are g*y, he loves everyone even if we do g*y acts. We just have to find means to repent and be better persons.

You have combined several questions in one and it is well nigh impossible to tackle them here more because it is related to religion. But let me give you a general thought on how I go about it. I too am not religious but strongly believe in morals. To do what I am doing one needs to liberate onself totally from what one believes to be man made strictures and rituals most of them having a commercial flavour. God works in mysterious ways, ways that prompt his creations to look up to him and trust him and those who dont will suffer. Now about the question of Gays we cannot judge why they are made that way and so we have no business to condemn or sympathise with them.

Hi, I am a protestant Christian belonging to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Religion is a belief in something, including belief in God. If we use the word religion, it is very confusing. To simplify things, let's use the word "church". The church is a community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In continuity with the people of God in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, we are called out from the world, and we join together for worship and fellowship, for instruction in the Word of God and worldwide proclamation of the gospel.
