How do you overcome Adversity?

A recent discussion post had someone feeling like a failure. We all have problems, and situations that keep us from doing the things we really want to with our lives. For some of us those things are more serious than others, and at times our daily lives can become so overwhelming that we don't see a way out of bad situations. If you have ever felt like this than my question is: How did you or have you, dealt with your adversity, and what did you or have you done to overcome it?

Hi ravenblade, Problems don't keep us from doing what we want it life, it is not knowing how or being unable to move past the problem that keeps us hung up. Life is full of problems/challenges, we all know that. But when we get so tied up in all the things wrong in our lives, we start to drown in doubt, sorrow and confusion. When I have a problem/situation that seems overwhelming, I spend time thinking about those who have problems far larger and more significant than mine. That allows me the opportunity not to dwell in my own helplessness, and look for creative ways to move on. I know that may sound a bit simplistic, but it really works for me.

interesting topic... It seems all of us are or have been immersed in some kind of adversity. Personally, I focused on : (on first pass) - what I can do, rather than on what I can not do. - what I had, rather than on what I did not have. (on second pass) - what I can do better than other people based on what I am, rather on what I wanted to be - what I had more in me, rather than what help I can get Soon there was a "magic", if you will. As Wayne Dyer puts it ... "don't do, just be." Cheers

Cheers to you! Good answer, Many times we become so focused on what we don't have, or the bad things happening to us, that we forget about the blessings we do have in life. I think everyone can do a better job of focusing on the things we can control than the things we can't.

Hi, RAVENBLADE. I think adversity is very common to everyone. There is an old Chinese saying, "eight or nine in ten of things are not so smooth". So i just leave me in peace when i face whatever adversity, and stay calm, take remedy, and leave the judgement to God. Anyway, everything is gonna be fine, right? Can the cloud cover the sun all the time?
