Virender Sehwag seems to be getting the recognition he truly deserves. We know that in India it is very difficult to outshine Sachin Tendulkar and create a mark. But no one can deny what Sehwag has brought to Indian Team. The ruthless, carefree opening batsman many a times dicided matches within the first phase of the Match! Now, The Daily Telegraph points out him as The Player of The Decade! Former England player Derek Pringle, while justifying the decision, has written: "Dashing openers have always been with us... but nobody has managed to do it with the audacity and frequency of Sehwag. Two triple and four double hundreds in a 72-Test career is a weighty achievement for one who bats as if needing to catch the last plane out of Kabul." And he goes on to say "Sehwag has been, by far, the more enriching. He should be better known than he is, even in India, but for the monopoly of Tendulkar". Actually, Lara, Sachin and Ponting etc are didn't consider completely as they shined in the 1990's. What do you think? Share your thoughts. Happy Mylotting!

For sure he is the cricketer of the decade.. both in ODI's and tests, and as of now contributing to team more than Sachin, its his wicket that opponents look for instead of Sachin's, and he score lot quicker than Sachin as well. Sachin's best time was in 90's specially from 95 onwards.. and then too he was not scoring as fast as what is Sehwag doing now. If Sehwag get to play as many matches as Sachin did for sure he will beat most of his records..

No one is Doubting Sachin's caliber.. and whats wrong with the technique with which Sehwag has scored two triple hundreds and Sachin hasen't managed a single one till date. He is better than Sachin in test for sure.. and no way behind in ODI's as well, and can better him too. Sachin has contributed more than any other player to the Indian cricket.. but nowdays he is second to Sehwag when comes to most important batsman in the side.

Yes, his strike rate and Average indicate what kind of player he is. In tests he has an average of over 52 and a strike rate of over 80. In ODI an average of 35 and a strike rate of over 102. So definitely, sehwag can better sachin if he plays as many matches as Sachin does. Happy Mylotting!

when sehwag fires, even Greats like Sachin shud be cool at da other end. U cant expect both da openers to fire. What happens if dey sacrifice deir wicket for da sake of quick-scoring.? it builds up pressure on the middle order. N u cant compare sehwag/ afridi/dilshan/.. style of batting to technique-dependent players like Sachin, Ponting, Dravid,....n i dont think Sachin has ever disappointed u with his strike-rate..! he always made it to a min. of 80-85. n also another point, no player ever faced soo many injuries as did Sachin. Man, he gave up his front-foot straight six for many yrs after met wit backache in 99'. He rarely bowls now-a-days jus coz of tennis-elbow n shoulder injury.

Yes you are right about Virender Sehwag. He is our Viv Richards. His very presence in the team is enough to send chill in the spine of the opponents. We are lucky to have him in the team. Who can forget his first tripple century against pakistan in pakistan? He rightly desrves the title "Cricketer of the decade".

Yes, as you say, every team is afraid of Sehwag having his best time against them. So their first step in strategy is to get his wicket quickly. It is like half the job done. Otherwise, Sehwag will prove that "Well begun is half done!" so others will finish the other half work easily.

Yes the ease with which he scores runs that is the main thing. Happy Mylotting!
