Are you loyal to any brands?

I know with many economies going thru hard times it seems impossible to justify paying for brand names. I know I can't justify buying brand name groceries for example when I know there are items just as good out there for up to 50% cheaper. I know some people are loyal to certain food brands, clothing + shoe brands, car brands ect.
How about my fellow mylotters?

there's one or two i prefer by name-simply because i know it's going to do what i want.but by and large,i go bargain hunting.
my mom on the other hand, always insists on a name brand or she won't use it,and it's occasionally infuriating.

My SIL is that way too. You send her to a store for groceries she'll buy the most expensive brand names only. But yet her wardrobe is from Wal-mart.. I don't get it! Sadly she can't afford the food brands, let alone keep up with bills. Shoot otherwise I'd buy brandnames too if I felt like wasting the money.

the funny thing is some of the generics are made by the exact same company-
if she read the label, she'd know.but she still probably wouldn't believe me..

I can't afford to be loyal to brands! It all depends what's on sale and many times the generic is cheaper and just as good. Even with a coupon and with the item on sale, generics are cheaper than the name brands and they contain the very same ingredients! I heard that most generics are made in the same factories as the name brands but put in different packages.
I have no loyalty to any brand but my wallet!

I agree! In this day and age with so many generic everything available one would be a fool to always buy brand name. My Aunt said when she toured a pineapple plant/farm in Hawaii back in the 80's they had cans for many brands and as soon as one order was filled they switched cans/labels and started the machines up again.
One of the main differences usually is marketing especially in food items.

*LOL* Sounds like you are very serious about your TP. I understand I do like a certain brand name as well, but when times are tough I'll deal w/ the thin store brand as it's better than going natural & not wiping! EWWW!

A lot of generic food tastes just as good as the name brand, but there are a few things that I think name brand taste better. When I buy frozen corn it has to be Birdseye. I think it tastes so much better and it really does not cost much more than the store brand. As far as clothing goes the name on the label means nothing to me. I buy what fits and what is cheapest.

I suppose I can see the frozen veggie thing. I know when I buy say something like frozen broccoli who wants a bag of nothing but stems? Even if it's cheaper? but if I find a deal I'll get the brand name just cause stems are not as pleasant to eat.

There are a few food items that I just cannot buy the generic because it tastes gross or doesn't work the same. I won't buy generic dish soap, I have to have Dawn, it just works better. The kids and hubby will use generic body wash and shampoo, but I have Pantene and Olay for myself (or Bath and Body Works). But when it comes to clothes, shoes, or other more expensive items, I'll get whatever is cheap or on sale... usually second hand if I can!

I'd like to have brand name shampoo again I was thinking about that the other day. As my kids love to waste shampoo for bubbles in the tub. I miss my Finesse, but the .77 cent v05 fits my budget better especially if it's going to get wasted.
I can agree a bit with the dish soaps as well. Though I only buy Ajax dish soap, but I've tried the off brands and they don't do as well for me either.

I have to have my scott tissue. I don't care what they have on the market cheaper. That is the only brand I can use. I have to have my suave deoderant as well. No other brand will do. I buy my soap at bj's so I can buy ajax or dawn. it does not really matter. Or even joy will work for me. As long as it's the big one. Clothing I have no brands I am loyal too. A shirt is a shirt to me.

deoderant is another on you have to be picky on. Afterall not every brand of deoderant works with everyones skin chemistry. I do well with suave too or teen spirit.... secret is ok but not worth the price & suae works better for me.

There used to be a lot of things to which I was brand loyal, but in light of the financial difficulties that we've dealt with this year, I see that my brand loyalty is going by the wayside. For example, when my daughter was little, the only diapers that I would ever let her wear were Pampers, but with my son, he has worn a lot of store brand diapers and they function just as well as Pampers do. We prefer Cottonelle toilet paper, but it requires a trip to a different store to get it for the best price so we opt to use Angel Soft instead because it is cheaper at the closest store.
