Have you heard an 8 year old use the word "groovey" or "hip"? What is the most peculiar word you heard from someone not expected to use the word, because it did not fall in their typical generation? My mother used the word "plumber" to inform me that my thong was announcing itself (a la "plumber's crack"). It was strange to hear her use the word. Soon she will be fist bumping, too. I call that "pound" out here. Anyone else have some weird ones?

when i and my friends were in our mid teens we did use slang words from the previous generation occasionally. i am not sure why because it was not intended as a p-take, they just were a change from what was used all the time. i can't say i have really noticed this in the young people i encounter but i am not sure if i would notice anyway.

you are the same age as me - but different country. i don't we ever used any of those words but for the last ten years people my age have been trying NOT to say anything is 'cool' - i think most of us still do though. sillier words we used, no they have happily disappeared unless the current crop of youngsters has resurrected them.
