What is Boxing day?

Someone once told me that Boxing day got it's name in the old days probably turn of the previous century when the wealthy would box up food to give to poor after Christmas not sure if it is though. That it has become associated to shopping though is undeniable.

i guess that is the day after christmas and it is dedicated to shopping!!In realiy there is not a boxing day in my country too where the 26 december is an holiday as well but it derives from religious belief and culture and not for shopping!!I think it is a tradition in english speaking countries as us,uk,canada....

Boxing day is the day after christmas day .I dont know if there is anY specific way to celecrate the day though atleast I dont have any specific way to celebrate the day .I spent boxing day the same way I celebrated christmas at my home alone except for my online friends who chatted with me at various point during the day
