When you respond to discussions, do you take the time to tag the response? What are your thoughts on tagging your responses? Please share your thinking.

I am a lazy, lazy, lazy girl! I frequently don't tag my responses, I guess I just never thought about how important it could be. I don't even know what a troll is except for the scary ones who live under bridges, so I am not even sure that would prompt be to add tags more often. Could someone help me out here? Are tags really a benefit or of some importance that I am not understanding? Advice/tips more than welcome.

See there, you learn something new almost every day you come to Mylot. I will pay more attention to tags and be more diligent about using them properly from now on. Hoping all the best for you and yours in the new year! malamar

..Hi malamar, Well you are a part of the majority of us. I am so sorry that I am not aware of what a troll is either, except those under that bridge with the billy goats or something. :o). Check with those more knowledgable than I, who will be glad to inform you. I do know that it is important that we include tags on the discussions we start for sure, but also on our responses, so that others will be drawn over to the discussions and help the entire mylot site. So the tags are very benefical in the overall scheme of things. So tag, tag, tag. Thanks for commenting. Happy New Year!

well tags are helpful to the discussion starter and those looking for discussions they are interested in as these are what brings up the list of similar discussions beside each one you look at. that said i am fairly lazy with tags - i usually add one or two to my own discussions and sometimes one or two when i respond. that i am afraid is it.

.....Hi jb78000, I would think that you are with the majority when it comes to tagging. I can't say for sure, but I think we all basically add tags to the discussions that we start and tend to sometimes add tags to our reponses. The use of the tags as someone else just made me aware, I am embarrassed to say, is practical when you are searching for discussions of interest to you. So I do think that I will make an extra effort in the future to tag. Thanks for your comment. Happy New Year.

...Hi there scarlet_woman, That puts you in the better part of all the taggers. I don't know for sure, but I think most of the mylotters tag their own discussons, but fail in most instances to tag their responses. That would be my category, I am going to do a better job in the near future. Thanks so much for commenting. Happy New Year to you and to your family. Take care.

I always tag my posts - I thought it was mandatory?

...Hi there TrvlArrngr, Thanks very much for your comment. No, I don't think it is mandatory. But keep thinking that, because you are doing what should be done to increase the traffic to the posts by tagging. I have read something about a tag troll, but I really don't know what that is and I promised myself that I would find out. Take care and have a very Happy New Year, you and your family.

I tag the discussion that I start. I do not tag any of my responses to other mylotter discussion. I think I did tag a response when I started on mylot over 7 months ago and then for some reason I am not sure why I just did not tag anymore of my responses.

...Hi there happy, You do what most people on mylot do, when I originate the discussion, I always include tags. But if I am responding to a discussion I rarely if ever, put in tags. Why, I have no answer as you state, I just think that tags on my response would not lead to anyone reading my commemt, perhaps I am wrong. I don't know the answer to that one either. Thanks for your comment. Take care.

...Hi there shuying8710, Well, I too have never searched for a discussion based on tags, but maybe there are those, I'm sure there are, who use that tool as a method in locating discussions to comment on or to read, I look through the postings by topics for discussions to comment on as you do. In the future I am going to increase the number of tags I include for my originated discussion and be more diligent with my responses. Take care. Happy New Year to you and your family.

I used to tag my responses, but not anymore. I don't know why, but I just don't feel it's necessary. Do you feel it's necessary? I tag my discussions sometimes.

...Hi there cobradene, As I mentioned earlier here, I am embarrassed to say that I never thought about the fact that others use the tags when searching for specific topics to discuss. So if we use the tags to good effect, we will be able to draw people who are searching to our discussions, I would guess. Now that would be great for the discussions that we initiate, and I would suppose as well for the person who started the discussions we respond to. Therefore being good for the mylot site. Forgive my rambling :o). Take care. Have a Happy New Year.

I usually only tag my own discussions that I start, but rarely tag my responses to other people's discussions. Once in awhile when they do not have many responses I might add some tags to try to help, but I honestly don't know how many people even use the search feature here on MyLot to find interesting discussions...

...Hi Bethany1202, You know something, this is really the first time, I haven't been here at mylot that long, but this is the first time that I realize, that using the search feature to find something interesting to discuss would be an option. Totally unaware, or oblivious, so now I will be more diligent about putting tags on my comments. I do, as you say, put them on discussions that I start, but not otherwise. Thanks very much for commenting. Happy New Year.

...Hi yugasini, This is basically what most of us are doing regarding the tags. I think most of us tag the discussions that we originate and sometimes tag our responses to other discussions. I read today that some people insert many tags on their discussions, I usually limit the number of tags. There is a tag troll, I understand, which I need to find out what a tag troll would be. So I will be trying to increase my tagging in the future. Thanks for your comment. Happy New Year!

Hi Artistry, yes I always tag my own, not so they can be found but to keep the tag trolls away. I usually add about eight to ten. I also tag the rabbits for her as well most times but not others generally.

...Hi thea, You are one of the good taggers, :o) if I might say so. For some reason when I tag, even my own discussions, I tend to fit the tags into the little box and when the space is filled I stop. So I normally have only four tags. You are very thoughtful in helping to place tags for someone else as well. Take good care. A Happy New Year to all.

Well I have only been on Mylot less than a week, but oddly enough I tend to tag my responses almost all the time now, and often times don't on my actual posts. We should all tag our discussions everytime, because as I understand it, This is one of the ways search engines find our discussions. The more people who see them, the more we, and Mylot are successful.

...Hi RAVENBLADE0842, Well, welcome to the ranch, enjoy yourself, it is a fun place to be. As you state, the tags are a a path to the discussions, and a good way to attract people to them. I do the reverse of what you do, I tag the discussions I start, but don't usually tag my responses. Going to try to do both in the future, to make good use of the tool. Thanks for your comment and have a Happy New Year.
