What do you consider when giving gifts?

..Christmas has passed and many gifts has been distributed.. May I ask, what do you consider in giving gifts? Does price really matters..? advance happy new year..

in giving gifts, usually these things into my consideration that is :
1. hobbies of the people that I will give a gift
2. level of intimacy
