For those with joint banking : Is it harder for you to shop for you partner?

I was thinking about this the other day, I was wondering if it would be harder for me to buy more for my husband with us having joint banking. I mean if I bought something more expensive he may be able to guess as what I would buy would be something he'd want. I was able to guess one gift I was going to get for Christmas, but I don't remember if that was so much because of the way it was wrapped, a lucky guess or the amount that was taken out for that particular store when checking the bank statement... Hmm but I wonder if others have this trouble or if they purchase the gifts along with a few groceries so that the other half can't tell what was grocery and what was gift? So what's your input?

I withdraw small amounts thru the year and tuck it away where my husband cant find it and pay for his gifts out of that. The amounts are usually about 20 USD taken during checkout at the grocery store. He never suspects a thing.

I don't know that I've ever taken money out like that, does it show on the receipt as a cash back? If I remember correctly I think it did when I glanced at the receipt of a person who got cash back when I was a cashier. hmm, that is a great idea though there are some things that are more of a value online... hmm for those I suppose I'd try to use a gift card that I won online, that way there's still no suspecting, right? lol... that is if I can get to the mail before he!
