Is this legal? In Minnesota? Or where you live? How do I find out? Here's the story: I am 19 and my friend is 17. We've been on road trips (in Minnesota, to Duluth and Rochester and Canada) before but never really out of state. We want to try to plan a trip to Hawaii this upcoming spring, but I don't want there to be any legality issues involved. Can I take a flight with my friend who's a minor? Do air port security people care? I know that in some states crossing the state lines WITHOUT parental consent is illegal and a felony (I think), but I don't know if it's the same thing if she HAS parental consent. Help, anyone?

I would get a written and notarized letter from her parents allowing you to travel with her and seek medical help if need be. In most cases it's not illegal as long as you're not kidnapping her LOL, but you most likely will need a written and notarized letter signed and dated by her legal guardian in order to get on the plane and such. Good luck.

No its not illegal in any state to travel with a minor, that I know of, so long as you have the parents consent. Keep in mind you will be acting as a legal guardian of that person, and should have clear written and signed consent, not just verbal. Other things you should have in your possesion is a letter of medical consent. A lot of people don't think about this, but god forbid something serious happens to your friend, you may need to make medical decisions very quickly, and legal consent to do so is neccessary.

I would check with the airlines and see what their rules are about this.I would also check with an attorney.

If you are in minnesota and the minor child has permission a sign document stating so then you are able to go anywhere in the United States I believe here is a link that will answer your questions and also any legal documents you may need.http://myfamilylaw.com/library/minnesota/

i would suggest that you check your local, state, and federal laws for this one. it will also help if you check the legality of this one in the state/country that you're planning to visit just so you have a clear picture of what is allowed or not. hope this helps. cheers!!!
