Trying to get stuff done while watching TV?

Yes! Yes! I thought I was the only person that did this. I do this a lot. During a commercial, I'll throw a load of clothes in the washer, wash the dishes, etc. Sometimes I think I get more done doing this because I know what needs to be done and I don't get districated. I love Law and Order SVU and often watch the marathons, too!

I am usually at home after a long day at work. I usually get phone calls while watching television. I take dinner infront of it. Usually it is brought by my sister or one of my nephews. Other then that I play with my 6 months old neice. Or sometimes read texte messages in breaks or reply to them.

Hi, maezee. Yes I find it very hard to get any kind of work done while I am watching television. I will have to wait until what I am watching goes off so that I can do any chores or other things. I have tried and it did not work out well for me. So, I will have to just wait. If the T.V. is turned down to a low volume you may will be able to get some things done just as long as your eyes are not steadily glued to the T.V.

Im never glued to the tv unless there is a Johnny Depp movie on LOL! I do have to have the tv on all day though, because I can't stand the quiet, I just like to have some noise in the background. I usually don't just sit down and watch tv, I always have my computer with me since I work online. I love to watch cooking and food shows and Dirty Jobs is one of my favorite shows too, so sometimes I stop working or cleaning or cooking to watch if there's something really interesting on. Im just one of those people who go a hundred miles an hour all day til bedtime so I find it hard to sit still!

i dont trying to get stuff done while watching tv,because i find that i feel tired when i try to finish my job.so i hope that i can make relax for a while and watch tv is good way to make me relax,next i would continue to finish my job.i think that it is good way to not only finish my job and also i can make relax to watch tv.so i like that.

Hi Maezee,I didn't do it like you described, I have to got focus on what I'm doing. If my favorite TV programmer is coming, I'd like suspend what I'm doing and stay in front of TV to watch it carefully. After that I will continue the work suspended. If I doing somethings while watching TV, I will get the two works trouble.

I do this a lot during the holidays. I try to fold laundry, knit, or do dishes while I am watching, and I put away the laundry during the commercials.

i often have our tv on in the basement just for noise when i am working on my crafty stuff. i did that alot just before christmas as i had a lot of projects that i was working on to finish.

Hi Maezee, it depends where I am. IF I'm watching TV in the bedroom, then I could fold some clothes, or even work at my computer. I tend to 'listen' to the TV rather than watch it. If I'm watching TV in the living hall, I would peel garlic.

I have done that on numerous occasions but thankfully I don't have to worry about that any longer...we now have digital cable and that comes with a DVR so I can just record things that I want and come back to them after all of my chores are done. We have had the DVR for about two years now and I have a ton of shows set to record all the time..it allows us to record two episodes at once and there are many times when they are locked up with recordings and then I can't watch regular television...it is so full I am thinking about getting another box for the bedroom that way I can record more shows LOL...

I do that a lot. But I try to get things done before my shows are on but it never happens. L.O.L. I always seem to be doing things. My husband said I was like a tornado and asked me to please sit down. L.O.L. I just have to busy all the time I don't like to sit down until the end of the day. I am always cleaning.

For me if I am watching TV, I will not finish what I am doing because when Im in front of the television I am more focused in the show that i watch so I tend to forget what I am doing. Before I watch something, I will finish first all the things that I have to do because I know that if Im going to do the same I will not finish t in a day.

Yeah I usally try to get all of my work done when Im watching tv which I find it tough to do since when your cleaning you just want to sit down. I am able to do homework when Im watching TV though since I usally do home work when im watching a tv show that ive seen a thousand times and I dont really need to see the TV show. All I have to do is listen to it and I know whats going on.

In my experience, you really can't do much if you're practically glued on TV except for folding your clothes and eating your lunch or dinner. Because your attention is somehow divided, and most of the time you tend to forget things. For example if you're ironing your clothes, with watching TV you might get burned. So be careful next time maezee, if you're watching TV make sure you don't forget things which may cause accidents. Happy mylotting.

I do that a lot too. I usually try to save up all the things I can do in front of the tv for my favorite shows that way I don't miss anything. Like folding laundry. I'll go do a bunch of laundry and other things during the shows I don't mind running around during. Then if it is a show I don't want to miss, I'll haul all the laundry baskets into the living room and fold clothes while i'm watching.

A few months ago we got cable put in and now have DVR. It's easier to get things done, though even though we have the power to pause live t.v., we still find ourselves glued to it. I usually try to do any chores before I get to the t.v., which is easier now that I have a job. I just come in and do what needs to be done before getting on the t.v. or computer. I used to be a big fan of L&O:SVU but am no longer. The job I have, I do some cleaning so I usually need to do that before I get sat down reading or watching t.v.

I do that a lot, too. I used to live in a small studio-typed apartment and multi-tasking (while watching tv) was next to breathing for me. Now that I live in a big house, with a garden, garage, and backyard, it seemed a little hard but I couldn't help it. I just want things done. I even read a book sometimes.^_^

I just do things during the commercials and when the program comes back on will sit and watch it. Sometimes though I will do dusting while watching TV. I know I have to get things done so I just have to take the time and do them even if I miss a little of a program.
