What Is A Soul?

Looking at a dictionary, it says that a soul is a person's total self. It doesn't mean much at all. But what is a soul really? Does it really exist? Is it something living inside of us? Does it only come out when we die or do we have it while we are still alive? Is it the same as a ghost that we see on tv like a puff of smoke?

I think a soul is a tiny light, an invisible being that resides in our bodies. It is this peaceful soul that dictates the spiritual functions of the body. Our bodies only act as a house for the soul. When we die, the soul will depart from the body and return to our heavenly father.
