Gay Christians... Is it possible?

I do not want to start a big bible verse war about this issue, I would rather just have it so that we can talk candid about the issue and not throw the verses around. The reason I am stating the thing about the verses is that there are many things that the bible states that are all up to the person that is reading it to define for themselves. What I am asking is not about if being gay is right or wrong. What I am asking is, if someone is living a life for God, about God, and loves God with all their heart and soul and also gay do you think that it is possible?

Yes, I do. They can't help it that they are gay. It is just how they are. There are many things in the bible that Christians don't actually follow. Being a Christian is about what is in your heart. I'm sure there are many gay people that were raised in the church and are just afraid to admit they are gay for fear of rejection.

Ah, but being a real Christian means Christ is in your heart, and Christ is not a homosexual. Being raised in church does not make one a true Christian.

Well that is like saying that blacks can not be christians because jesus was not black or god is not black or women cant be christians because god was not a women... interesting no doubt.

I think it is not right to judge people irregardless of being gay as some are righteous and not a bad person. Although it is already inherent qualities and it could no longer change they still have the right to worship and be involve in religious activities as long as they never show any mischief behavior..They too deserves respect as long as they know to respect other people so they deserve proper treatment too...

This is difficult for me because I do believe there are other types of "sinners" (forgive me if I offend) that love God and show it by the way they live their lives except for the blind spot they have for their particular sin. Therefore, I don't see why that can't be true about homosexuals as well. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. I don't think I said it too clearly, but I don't know how to say it better.

Hi Justin521982, In regard to interpreting Bible verses, there is no problem there. I'm sure we would agree that if the Bible says don't steal, that's what it means. So, it says the effeminate and homosexual (along with the thief, adulterer, liar and many others) shall not inherit Eternal Life--and so it means what it says. But, ok. Let us not use Scripture. What is a real Christian? Someone that is committed to Christ, and Christ is on the inside of them, and they are in Christ. Is Christ a thief? No. Is He an adulterer? Of course not. Is He a homosexual? _____ If someone loves God with all their heart, then they will hate sin. Now, albeit, for some people there is a learning curve. But somewhere if Christ truly dwells within, His life will show, and that means Christ won't lie, steal, or even be a homosexual.

But if you are a true Christian you will also admit to being a liar, adulterer, etc. If you want to get right down to it we are all those. We all have lied at one time in our life, we have all lusted after someone in our minds. Just because we ask for forgiveness doesn't mean we are still not a liar etc. I mean if I murdered and did my time I would still be a murder even though in the eyes of the law I have done what I needed. We are all sinners that have fallen short so why does the homosexuals get the brunt of it all?

But PastorP how can you say that the bible says we are this or should be this when the bible says that women are property, that you can not wear same fabric, etc. If we are taking the verses just at face value? I mean there are certain verses that I know that Christians that are against gays will use but you have to know the background behind them and where they came from in the story of the bible. We do not do some of the things that the bible says that we should and do somethings that it says not to.

Hi Justin___, No where does the Holy Bible say that women are property. In fact, the Word of God says that they are partners with the man when married to one. In regard to background, it is the same throughout the Holy Bible. Homosexuality is declared wrong in both NT and OT. It is quite simple and plain. And, once again, not just that sin but many other sins. I am not too sure what you meant by that last sentence. It can be taken in two ways at least. If you mean a difference between some OT commands and NT commands, we have to keep in mind that the Jewish Law is exactly that-- the Jewish Law. To stay on topic here homosexuality and other sins are condemned by God before the Jewish Law was given, when the Jewish Law was given, and after the fulfilment of the Jewish Law by Christ.
