Hey all you in MyLot land, About a month ago Serena Williams got a hefty fine. $825,000 - it's not like she can't pay it, but still, that's a lot. Do you think it's too much to pay for her verbal "outburst" at officials?

those punishments are decided by ATP officials so we are no one to judge about them. as far as incident is concered, it was quite unfortunate. it must have surely hurt fans of serena to see her lose her temper in such a way. champions are not made up of mere records of win and loses, your temperament and nature on and off court also contributes a lot. see what has happened to tiger woods, who would have thought that his off course activity will affect his carrier in such a big way. serena should learn from this incident of her, and try to behave properly on court in future.

Are you sure about the amount? I thought is was $82,500. She should have been suspended from the tournment at the time of the incident and not allowed to play in the doubles after it happened.

YEah, i do about that though.. She deserves it!! haha =D Even though she's a top tennis player, but that does not give her the right to be verbally abusing the officials!! In a game, officals are the biggest ple for they make decisions upon the game, and thus they need to be respected for that.. BUt serena, does not think it that way!! Her fame has gotten too big for her head, and thus she deserves the fine, and also alot more!! haha =D

I think so. It seems like quite a bit for that kind of thing. But I'm guessing it has to do with her wealth and fame. I'm hoping that if an ordinary, middle-class citizen yelled out some profanity or whatever at officials, they wouldn't be fined $825,000.. That seems a little ridiculous to me, not to mention more than some people MAKE in a lifetime!
