How many books did you read in 2009?

We're coming to the close of 2009, so I was wondering if you knew how many books you'd read this year? This is the first year I've actually tried keeping track of everything I've read. I've found it really fun and I'm going to try and keep track next year too. I've read 91 books this year, how many have you read? How many books do you hope to read in 2010?

i don't keep track of how many books i read but it will be in the hundreds. i read far too quickly and quite often get through more than one a day. this year - well i am not concerned about numbers but i might make an effort to pick up more proper books from the library rather than just going for a few thrillers. thrillers are quick to read when you are tired but modern novels and so on are often more interesting and rewarding.

You should try keeping track sometime. I've actually found it really fun. Then I can tell people exactly how many books I've read and they can stare at me like I'm from Mars! It's quite amusing. Keep reading! Happy new year!

I didn't get any close to what you've just had, but I've read at least nine books this year, including the whole Twilight saga, Angels and Demons, and The Lovely Bones (which is coming in theaters this year). :D I hope to read at least three to four books a month next year. :D Anyway, Happy New Year to you!

I believe I have realistic expectations of films adapted from books. The first thing you have to understand is that it's an entirely different medium, so some things will have to change in order to make it fit better. The other thing is that, EVERYONE has a different vision of the book when they read it. They see the characters differently, they see the atmosphere differently, they see the scenes differently, and they see the places differently. A writer's description can never tell you how exactly to envision things they way they envision them, so you should never expect the director's vision to match up with yours. I enjoy some film adaptations because I keep this in mind. However, if the movie is nothing like the book or makes completely unnecessary changes, I'll be disappointed like any other fan. I read the books first because I believe books are better than movies. I liked the Twilight movie, but the book is better. The book is usually better.

At least you were reading. I'm planning on reading the Lovely Bones sometime... the movie looked really interesting but I have to read the book before I see the movie. Good luck reading in 2010!

The reading-the-novel-first-before-watching-the-movie-franchise habit frustrates me most of the time, as reading them first makes my expectations of the movie high. But I prefer doing it to watching the movie first because it makes me understand the movie really well. Though I admit, the movies Twilight, New Moon, and Angels and Demons turned out pretty lame compared to the novels. I like Angels and Demons better than Twilight though.

I have to be honest, I have not been doing much reading this 2009. But I will try my best to read some in 2010. I miss reading books, journals, fictions, non-fictions and especially auto-biographies. Should spend more time reading a real book than articles, blogs, forums and whatnot. LOL.. I'm just too addicted to be 'reading' from the internet.

I think internet reading can actually be bad for you sometimes. Not news sites or things like that, but tons of forums have posts written in chat-speak and that drives me bonkers. Good luck reading in 2010!

Hi Ally, I don't know if i was able to finish reading a book. i always start reading one-- a novel or anything about life and science fictions but i am not sure if i made it to the end. i feel bad now for not recalling anything if i was able to finish reading even one book. anyway, i will try my best this year to read more and more books!

Hi, I didn't read nearly as many books as I wanted to this year but I read about 25-30 I believe, I definitely read at least 25. I have it written down somewhere but I can't find it. I hope to read close to 100 books in 2010, I love to read I just get busy or distracted sometimes and I don't read as much. It's really fun to keep track of how many you read though, it's amazing when you see the number at the end of the year and how you can improve on it, if you so choose to do so.

25 is a good number. I was aiming for 100 this year, but I didn't quite make it. So I hope to read at least 100 in 2010. Good luck reacing 100 in 2010! Happy reading!

Hmm, that's a quite difficult question actually. I didn't read as much as I usually, I finished my PhD last year and that quite a lot of time and reading. So I probably finished 7-10 books on science. Other reading, I guess about 30 books. I read some Icelandic crime in Icelandic just to make the books last longer :-) I'm a fairly fast reader, so if I bring a book in Norwegian, English or German when I'm travelling I know I have to get more on the road. Not that I mind lots of books, but having to carry them around isn't that funny. I used nearly a week to read one book in Icelandic though, the plan is to get some more this year.

Wow. Reading in Norwegian, German, and Icelandic. That's cool! I would probably just take lots of books because I don't mind carrying them, but whatever works for you and as long as you're reading it's all good. Thanks for your comment, 30 is a good number. Happy reading in 2010!

Happy reading to you to! I think my aim is about 1 book a week this year. I read a lot more some years ago before I became obsessed with taking pictures, and it takes time to sort out all of them.

I think if I counted correctly I read at least 15 books and they were mostly in electronic format. I hope read more than this year because I downloaded some free ones through my stanza ipod app and there are some I purchased at dollar tree that I need to get around and read. I need to also buy again one book I never got around to reading and that is the Cladi collection by Tanith Lee. It somehow got ruined and ended up throwing it out. I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy books and got a long list lol.

I really like Fantasy books. The majority of what I read were fantasy books, I believe. I like Science fiction too, but not nearly as much as Fantasy. As long as it's speculative fiction. I don't usually enjoy realistic fiction or non-fiction. I don't much like eBooks, but if you enjoy them and read them then that's great. 15 is a good number. Happy reading in 2010!

I think I might have read about 15 books in 2009. I will read some books this year but I do not have a number that I will read in 2010. You really do like to read I am not sure I could read that many books in a year. Do not get me wrong I do like to read but I just have other things that I do during the day.

So do I, but I make time for books. I read anytime I can squeeze in a few minutes. If I have an hour to sit down and read, then I'll take it. But anyway... 15 is a good number considering the number of people who don't read period. Happy reading in 2010!

I haven't exactly kept track of how many books I have read this year, but I typically average about one a weeks so I'd have to guess that I read 52 books this year. I've been an avid reader since I was a child and I read every single day of my life. I think that is a habit that I am going to maintain for the rest of my life. I think for next year I am going to have to keep track of exactly how many books I read next year.

That's a pretty good goal. I don't think everyone should devour books like I do (Even though that would be great.), but I think people should make an effort to read. Happy reading in 2010!

Actually speaking, I don't read books. But the end of this year out of my friend's compulsion, I started to read. The first book I read was Da Vinci Code. I didn't believe reading books will be that beautiful. This book was awasome. I completed it soon and started to read Angels and Demons by the same other. I'm sure I need not comment on that book. I was sure nice. Then I came to Deception Point of the same author. Wow. It had its value. I'm yet to complete it. But sure I believe it to be completed by tomorrow that I could start Digital Fortress.

Books are indeed my best friend, whenever I am at home and have even a bit of free time I sit down with a book in my hand. I didn't keep track of the number of books I've read this year as the numbers don't matter much to me its just that how much you enjoyed reading what you read. And I have definitely read quite a lot of good books this year and want to continue doing so in the next year as well as the rest of the years of my life!
