Is Squidoo a good earning site?

Hello, I have a friend that wants me to join squidoo under me. :) I have heard that you are meant to write articles that aren't long. Is it a reccommended site for me to join? Or does only a few very successful article writers get all the money and every one else doesn't get anything? Any information will be helpful, because I really want to help my friend out, but I don't know if it is worth it. I've asked for information from him too, but he hasn't replied yet, so I thought I should try out mylot.
