Do you believe that we may be extincted by a extraplanetary event in 2012?

There are a number of experts, who using various references, ancient texts, and even a computer that makes stock predictions, predict that on Dec 21 2012 there will be some type of event that will mirror the event that occurred to extict the dinasours, the mastadons, and the wooly mammoths each in their turns. They disagree on what exactly is going to cause the sequence of extincting events to occur. Some theorize that it is a meteor shower caused either by our alignment with the sun, moon, and the black hole at the center of the milky way is going to bring us into the trajectory of a huge meteor shower and that this will be the cause. Others believe that a 10th planet called Nibiru by some and Nemesis by others, which is on a 3600 year eliptical orbit through our solar system will make a near miss pass with earth and drag us out of our orbit with it's gravity and momentum. There are a number of theories, and even more experts who are trying to theorize as to the cuase of the event. None of them are contending the date though. One of the few things I have ever heard of the scientific community doing is agreeing wholesale on any one specific point. Whatever may occur on that specific date, if anything, if it is a mutiple heavely body alignment, a meteor shower, a 10th planet or a red or brown dwarf star doing a close quarters fly by, it should be quite the show. Provided that you are not hit with one of the flying pieces of iron ore rich space rock or caught up in some kind of crowd reaction panic. If you haven't heard anything about all of this you may go to you tube or any online search engine and search the date Dec. 21st 2012. 2012 The end of the world?, or Nibiru, or Planet X if you want to see the evidence that leads to these kinds of wild speculations, and here the premises upon which they base their predictions. I think that the very idea that something cataclysmic could occur in my lifespan and in so near a future is at the least quite an interesting proposition. so gimme your thoughts? How familiar are you with the theories that are making the rounds? Do you think that anything will happen at all on that date?

I think that if the end would come then there will be a scitific reason for sure and the best for our end would be a planetary effect, either the sun would have some problems or the shooting stars, actually a big asteroid would might hit us. I wish nothing like this happens.

There is evidence all over the world both under the oceans and on dry land which indicate that such things happen periodically. The deflection equipment that the Russian president is talkign about is a pipe dream. If we had a major meteor shower such as the one that extincted the dinasaur any such system would be unable to keep up with the work and what are we going to load it with? If you hit a huge piece of rock with a missle you know what happens right? You normally get smaller chunks of rock, and just like lithrocopy of kidney stones they is no guarantee of breaking the entire thing into smaller rocks, or in changing the direction that they are headed, which is straight toward us in a 10,000 mile per second all fired rush.

Whether it is true or not there is little that anyone can do to prevent it nor have any prophylactic measures taken to face it. The world has overcome so many calamities in years gone by and I can hear it say "men may come and men may go but I'll gone on forever." As I answered to someone else on the same subject all we can do to be in readiness is to cleanse our souls!!

This is true, there is nothing that we can do. Our technology is not such that we will be capable of getting large numbers of people off of our planet for the event, and even if we could, where would they go that is a safe enough distance away? No our fates are inextricably tied to this planet which every once in a while likes to wipe the slate clean and start all over. Even with all of our technology and all of the things that mankind has built up since we slunk from the priordial slime are powerless in the face of true planetary size power. This I thinkk is Gods way of reminding us that all the works of man are nothing prepared to the works of God.

Hello! Sorry i don't believe in predictions. For me only God knows our future here on earth. He is the only God to hold us what happen in our everyday activities. Well if that will happened may be because its all God's plan to his people. And may be it's God time to happen whatever on that day to come. GOD is the creator of this earth and He knows his people well. So just trust God and pray. The best we can do now and be prepare to be with him in his coming.

I do trust God and I do pray. Even if an extinction event were to occur wouldn't that fulfill the prophesy of the end times, last days, final days, etc. contained in most religious texts? They certainly didn't predict that we would melt off our ozone layer with polution and then fry in the radiation of the sun. I believe that God is coming back to redeem those who have earned the rewards of heaven, I just never figured on being able to set your watch by it! LOL.

I really don't believe it...The bible clearly states that even Jesus Christ doesn't know when will be the end of the world or the day of salvation, but only the holy Father in heaven....

our species is a nosy species. We're always trying for a peak up under Gods robes. But all of the ancient cultures who painted on caves, and walls, and scrolls speak of such an event having occured within their lifetime. If such a calaclysmic event were to occur there would be small pockets of civilization struggling along to survive and to rebuild our society. In the meantime while they work on that the earth can heal and renew itself. I doubt that the tiny ragtag groups of survivors will be very quick to rebuild the combustion motor and how many of us know how one is built, how to build a car, or how to refine crude oil into gasoline to run such a thing even if we did manage to build one. The olanet will be able to heal from our excesses if that happens and the issue of global warming shall thus cure itself. Mankind in our vanity thinks that if we are brought to a halt that it is "the end of the world" The world has benn wobbling along through space for a very long time with and without us and it shall go on even if we get wiped out tomorrow.

No,the most important hing is that this all was promoted for the movie itself and it's quite a shame for all of us to have been fallen into their trap, they just want tp promote and were really quite successful that we tend discuss it even today even after knowing what was that all stuff.

No, I don't believe it. This is just like Y2K and all the other "predicted" dates that have come and gone of the world ending. I do believe that one day the world will end, and maybe in my lifetime, maybe not. But should we really know? Why live in fear of what may or may not come? Let's enjoy life instead.

I am not afraid of a cataclysmic extinction event, that is the promise of every religion that has ever risen or fallen.Eventually we shall all toddle off of this mortal coil and then we shall know if there is an after life. It's more anticipatory for me, it would be like hitting the big Jackpot in Vegas. Sadness at being extiguished tempered by the anticipation of finally getting all the answers that you had questions to in life. Besides if it does occur it would be something to see!
