We have a similar system in Target here. You are given the option of taking a bag and if you do it’s ten cents. All the stores sell the reusable bags for around one dollar each; of course I have typically forgotten to bring them on many occasions! As far as I know Target is the only store that charges for ordinary plastic bags.

Wow! I didn't know that. It's been a LOOOONG time since I went to Target! It used to be a usual stop, but now it isn't anymore. I've been going to Wal-Mart more cause it's closer to us.

I wish we have one like that in my country. Plastic bags are just about every where. Although the biggest retail store in my country initiated a program about using recycable bags when consumers shop. And they have Wednesdays declared as green bag day, where consumers will pay for plastic bags that they will use for their purchases. The money collected for these would be used for their environmental programs. I think this is a good program. If only it can be implemented in the whole world, our world will be a much better place to live in.
