In a tropical climate one wants cool weather at least part of the year. However wherever you live in winter it is cooler and less humid than in the summer. As for the person in Sumpter, SC, when I was a kid I lived in Charleston, SC the summers there are horrible. I am sure that some people think that it is heavenly if they were born there but for me it is just not a great place to be in the summer. Winters are gray and cold there too.

Hi, crazybubu. Yes, tell me about it. Here in Sumter, South Carolina it can be very hot and humid too. So, I would love to feel some kind of coolness.

I'm in a village in Southern Romania and it's about 6 degrees Celsius. Sorry, but I have no idea how much that is in Fahrenheit... I found a conversion formula and it's somewhere around 43 degrees Fahrenheit. It's pretty warm for this time of the year. We usually have below freezing temperatures on New Year's Eve.

Yeah I have heard that Romania can be quite cold in the winter time. That is not bad for the first of January.

Actually, it may seem good that it's warmer than usual, but on a closer view, it's not really all that good. The plants around here, the crops and also the trees, are not used to such rapid temperature changes, and they may be affected. The past few winters have been warmer and you could see the apple trees or the magnolia flowering in the winter, which is a waste of their energy. The wheat feels a lot better under a blanket of snow to keep it warm. If it freezes and there's no snow, it can damage the entire crop.

The weather in SC is much better than the weather the northern states and midwest is having to deal with this January. Toward the coasts the weather is always better than it is inland, we get spoiled, start forgetting that we have it pretty good.

Seventeen degrees here in Peoria, Illinois. With a five windchill factor and snow as far as the eye could see. So yeah, not the most ideal conditions. Fortunately, nothing requires me to be outside so I'll be indoors where it's nice and warm.

With snow as high as an elephants eye, indoors is where you ought to be. I am originally from the midwest so I feel your pain. Makes ya wanna move to California in the wintertime doesn't it?

I assume that is celcius rather than farenhyeit right? Either way that is some cold to near freezing weather. Not much longer and we will get warmth and spring back. Then we will complain about the heat.
