mine would have to be Thai Fried Grasshoppers,i bought them as a stocking filler for my 14 year old son,he wouldn't even try one,so i did, they were gross,,i couldn't bring myself to eat the head coz the eyes kept looking at me,so i ate the tail instead,it was really dry and flakey, and all the flakes got stuck between my teeth and to the roof of my mouth,,never again,,

Oh that is horrid.I do not mind trying things, but it depends on what it is.Anything like that would make me feel sick before i put it in my mouth as it is the thought of it that would make my stomach chern.Happy New Year.

Maybe this isn't strange, but I had cow's tongue for the first time about a month ago. I remember seeing packages of it in the meat section as a kid . . . I'd always visit "them" and press on the taste buds - ha ha. Grossed me out, but I liked touching it. But I could never imagine actually eating it. So a month ago my sister brought some to my parent's house as part of dinner . . . and you know what, it was pretty good! It was soft and not "tongue-like" - whatever I thought it was going taste like. It's just weird that I would be tasting something that tastes - ha ha.

It tasted kind of like really soft veal - it was tender and flavorful the way it was prepared (I think my sister got it from either a Chinese or Cuban restaurant - I can't remember!). It's not what I would have expected from eating a "tongue"!

Thanks for BR, doormouse! I actually thought of you and this discussion the other day. My daughter found chicken feet in the meat aisle and was fascinated by it - hee hee!! I know in the Chinese culture they eat it (we've had it as dim sum) - and really there's not much to eat there!! But I didn't see the cow's tongue. Today we did see cow's feet though (what da heck do you do with those??????)!

Haven't eaten anything yet this year The strangest thing that I have eaten ever was frogs - yuck! Fried! Never again! Once was enough but they are quite popular here Expensive too even there are loads of them in the rice fields.

Undercooked chicken is the nearest that I can get as a similiarity They say that cat is served instead of chicken on the menu in a local Chinese here. I haven't been to find out

...Hi doormouse, Happy 2010. I can say that your description of the grasshopper eating experience will guarantee that I will never know what they taste like. :o( My uncle used to buy chocolate covered grassshoppers, didn't eat them then either. I don't think I have eaten anything unusual this year or really last year. I once was in Mexico, and had some octopus, which if I remember correctly tasted like chicken, but more rubbery. I have had frog legs, which were kind of tasty. May 2010 be good to you and your family.

Hi. Just before the end of this year, my husband bought a local exotic food called "balut." It's a duck egg with embryo inside. The liquid content tasted good but I wasn't able to eat the embryo. I saw the feathers and beak and I could imagine the intestines inside the embryo. According to my husband it also tastes good but I have no plans of eating it.

it is normal to eat the intestine of the pig here in our country. but i don't like because we all know their solid waste are came from the intestine. in fact, they also eat ears of the pig, blood of the pig, ordinary dog and sheep. they also eat ordinary rat from a farm.

Hi, Thats good, you have genuine reason to say that the food was strange.I hated maggi till today rigtt from my childhood. When i was around 5 years,my cousin made maggi. After eating that believe me, till today i hate maggi.I hate the smell as well.I know people love its aroma. What to do, after eating her hand made dish for the first time(infact that was the last time as well), my stomach started aversing Maggi. From that time i made sure i never ate any food made by her.I tell her hell lot of reasons, that i m fasting on that day when she offers me food.I just accept fruits given by her.Its hard to believe but its true. Thanks to my cousin.
